To debadge or not to debadge? That is the question.

I've decided to keep the TRD decals. Well, I'm changing them to sockmonkey originals. I just don't know what I want to do with the badges. I have the Enkei deep six wheels, so they're brushed aluminum chrome step bar (keeping it for the wife. She's 5' even.) so the emblems match. I washed my truck yesterday, and I thought it all looked good. But I remember the first time on this site when I saw a debadged taco with just a TRD emblem on the tailgate. I thought it looked awesome. So, I'm torn. Need opinions? Or just be hyped up to do it. Please help. Thanks.

 

De-badge tailgate, plasti-dip door badges.

Debadge it looks much cleaner and is much easier to wax and wash.

 

Take the emblems off.


I only have one but that's to hide a ding on my door

 

took all mine off the other day, truck looks soo clean now. My origional plan was to paint them black and put them back on but it looks clean without them that they are never going back on

Whats the best way to remove the emblems?

 

take fishing line and run behind emblem slowly.will need 10 ft of line?then use goo be gone from auto store,or bug and tar remover to get the adhesive off and your done.

 

Exactly, my point is proven

 

Heat it up first...safest way is face the panel you want to work on to the sun for an hour or so and let the sun soften the adhesive first. A hair dryer works, but you run the risk of getting it too hot.

When you're done, wax the area you worked on because the solvent used to remove the adhesive will strip all the wax off.

 

I like the debadging, but I also like the look of the side 'tacoma' badge moved to the indented part of the door. Haven't done any of it yet.

 

I debadged, always do. I wish I would have seen sock's black badges tho ... I'll be putting those on soon. At least the Tacoma on the side.
