    Great write up! totally sub'd

I have had a shop do 2 wheel bearings so far (1 was a failure the other was my driving technique) But if its as simple as you stated, I might step up to the challenge in the future!

The rust on Canadian trucks is unbelievable, too much salt and gravel on the roads.

Here is a pic of my rear axle from last year, its an 09, and I had about 70,000 kms on the truck.

Great thread and thanks for the write up. I definitely think i could handle this kind of job myself with a write up like that. You have a 2011 right? Why didn't the dealer cover that wheel bearing under warranty?

This was done on my old 2006 Tacoma. I have since upgraded to a 2011. Seems like the whole thing was a waste of time now... Haha

$80 well spent to have the shop to the bearings. I went through this task with a buddy at his shop, and it was NOT easy!

It was 40 bucks a bearing, not including the hub. I couldn't find both together, so I'm not sure if the oil seals would come with it or not.

Yeah, I've been reading alot where the bearing have been failing at around the 100K mark....This truck was at around 115K so it wasn't far off...I've since sold this truck and got a 2011.

Nope, I had an 06 TRD Sport. I've since sold that and bought me a 2011 TRD Sport.
