Cats are cool and cheap entertainment. You will not be bored if you take time to bond with them. We have 2 and also 2 dogs. I don't really have a preference toward either species. They each bring different things into your life. But I do think cats are more entertaining than dogs.

I'd be worried about getting a kitten that young. I've been told that taking cats away from their litter before 6 weeks can cause them to have problems socializing. Not as common with the owners but very common with any other pets you might get in the future.

Also recommend one litter box per cat if one of the cats is female. I know you're only getting one now but figured I'd mention it.

    Here's my 2-

I just thought I'd follow up with this issue by providing a link to an intriguing interview with James Flanagan, 101st Airborne. He's the one holding the Nazi flag in the photo here:

    http://www.historynet.com/world-war-ii-interview-with-101st-airborne-trooper-james-flanagan-about-d-day.htm

The article describes his firsthand account of combat on D-Day, Operation Market-Garden, and Bastogne.

Now, you see, James Flanagan also loved cats. However, according to Jungle Bob here VVVV that makes James Flanagan a big homo. I guess he doesnt have any respect for airborne soldiers...ironic.

James Flanagan also loved growing tomatoes. Do you have any opinions on the sexual orientation of tomato growers, Bob?

Not all men who are homosexual own cats, but all men who own cats are homosexual.
What the hell do want a cat for? If you're that hard up for companionship, get out of the house and find a girlfriend, get a dog, go join the American Legion, something. Don't buy a cat.
A dude owning a cat is absolutely gay. Get a cat if you need to, but don't flaunt your feline companionship in front of any of your friends, unless you enjoy getting ripped on and looking like an enormous queer.

    neglect, mostly.
real realzzz. . . . as for me, meh, cats are cool enough. indoor cats are stupid. animals belong outside. my cat fights my dog, kills mice and moles, and sits on my driver mirror every time i clean it. i don't remember what my sister named it, but i call it fluffy. end post.

    One of my two cats:
This is Ponce - he is dumb as a bag of hammers, but incredibly affectionate & loyal. Great with my kids & purrs like there is no tomorrow... truly my buddy!

    The other Cat:
This is Augi - she is essentially the feline equivalent of breathing furniture...
lays around & waits to be fed... But - every morning she greets me when I come down for breakfast & wants some attention for a few minutes.

They are Brother & sister. My wife and I rescued them as they were the last two kittens from an abandoned litter.

I've had cats most of my life, but these two take the cake!:D

I have a seal point. Cats can be a pain in the ass. They like to be up high. It make them feel safe. So be perpaired for it to climb on stuff. Mine plays fetch as good as a dog. Keeps to herself most of the time.

Photo of her when I got her and one of her now.

True dat. I got my first cat as a 'mouser' when I was living in a $220 a month rat hole. Took less than a week for that cat to chase off or kill every rodent in the place.

After the rodentia were gone I gave the cat to a buddy several miles away for his wife and young daughter. Weeks later, that cat showed up at my doorstep. No f'ing idea how she managed to trek all those miles and track me down, or, why, but she did.

I kept her - trusty as any dog - and that began my appreciation of cats.

Cried like a little bish when she died at 17 years.

Have had other cats but none like that first one.

One of my cats went back to our old house after we moved , he was missing for a day , and our old landlord called us and said the cat was at our old place waiting to get let in the door .

How they figure out where to go and how to get back to places like that is beyond me , it's not like he was looking out the window as we drove to our new house .
