Anyone remember his original asking price?
No wonder he wouldn't let me go very fast on the test drive (well, it was night and there were deer everywhere) Before I found this all out I had an appointment for tomorrow morning at my local 4x4 shop to check out the suspension anyway...

Bad: Besides this shitty yellow interior stuff, and the shaking... Boots are torn, rubber joints are cracked, exhaust is rusted to shit at the tip, headlights are fogged, no offroad lights...

Good: The system hits hard, ummm it's tall... ummm it's a Tacoma, It's a truck (beats the 1993 Subaru legacy with 230,000 miles ive been driving for 9 months), Bumper can fit a winch and offroad lights easily

He was originally looking to get like 9k out of it. I laughed in his face and explained why it was worth less than 5k, and that was before the whole confession of how terrible the truck drives.

if the threads were deleted there may be a chance that a moderator can still access them (not 100% sure on that) maybe try PM'ing a mod and asking if they can look into bowhunters account to find out.... :notsure:

I cant remember, i think it was 8-9k.

This is what i would do in your situation:

    1. Go and punch him in the face
    2. Put it in your garage on some stands
    3. Take off the bumper and sell it
    4. Take out the 6" lift and sell it and put something good like OME or Toytec
    5. Take off the hood scoops and "try" and sell them
    6. Paint the ugly interior back to original
    7. Get rid of those trucker mudflaps
    8. Go punch him the face again

It sounds like you've already looked over the truck and found some issues...be sure to take care of everything before taking it anywhere! Sorry you didn't stop by here first to find out the truth! [IMG]

He's realized he bought a 1st gen...and no matter how shitty, 1st gens are always a win.

just cut off the entire shitty front end, drop a straight axle there....and everyone wins!

This is why i always tell people to buy a "stock" truck. Because you never know whats really been modified or who has modified it.

Well, you could look on the bright side of things.

It gives you an opportunity to turn a molested vehicle back into something that it should be. The Tacoma deserves better and this one needs to be changed. Get rid of the huge lift, repaint the *cough*, and I can't believe I'm say this, yellow air vents and loose all of the other ricy stuff along with fixing the other known issues.

In the end, you could have a nice truck if done right and a story with photos of how it came to be to go along with it and most of all, the pride that you took a molested Tacoma and turned it back into what it should be. That is, if you decide to do it.

    Good news and bad news...

Bad news: Dash is still ugly, rear shocks are going out and need replaced, driveline idler bushing is shot and needs replaced, needs an alignment and tires balanced (tires are 7-8 years old), 3" body lift "will not pass", exhaust may need extended (needs a new tip anyway), bumper is not solid enough for winch purposes, spilled 44 oz mountain dew onto the passenger side floor on way home ...

Good: Suspension is fine other than the fact that it's a trail master, tie rods are good, ball joints are good, sound system is good, engine is solid, clutch is solid, it's a Tacoma, tires have plenty of tread, bumper is plenty solid to add offroad lights, kid had plenty of shampoo left in the carpets to make cleaning up the mountain dew a breeze :)

yeah you people had me scared and mad :) $122 for the idler bushing and $100 for shocks. Then if vibration/shaking issues persist, check alignment and balance tires. Trip to the dealership or the junk yard will fix the horrendous dash colors
