Not sure if Toyota sued Dana corp over the 1st gen and Tundra frame issues... I don't think they did. I wonder if this for real. We all here know that our trucks rust badly. To be frank, I do hope this is true as I'd like to see Toyota step up and own this. My frame will never rust so badly as to be replaced because of the climate I live in.

I would imagine so. They will keep your truck for anywhere from a few days to a month. Its a great trade off. I got a free rental car and my truck is spotless underneath. Take advantage of it.

It was a recall. You got your truck checked out and got it either sprayed or replaced. Atleast for the 01-04. 00 and under it was the buy back. There are some scary vids on youtube with peoples destroyed frames.

Not mine They called it extended warranty. I was in Illinois I remember getting the letter. I would toss lots of warrenty letters this one had red lettering so I opened it. That's how I found TW I googled it and a TW thread came up. Look at my member date. I could not beleve I could have just tossed it. I was bringing to the dealer by me for service for 9 years they said nothing. When I called them they said they din't know about it. So I called carmax in kenosha WI. were I purchased it. I told them I looked and the passenger side was rusted 7-10" long on the bottom. They told my to take out all my personal items they were going to but it back or have me sign a waver. I think this new one is BS I found nothing and that's most likely a map ftom the first one.

As posted on another frame rust thread. There is usually 1 a week now. I still want to see the recall letter based on all the threads. With that said Dana was found to not be the blame for the Tundra issue and Toyota was still investigating. Until proven, I have a hard time immediately throwing blame on Dana since they build so many frames, undercarriages, other components on many different brands.

Here is my proof to my point:

How about the OP post a scan of his recall notice , that would legitimize this thread

Come to think of it, did Toyota Canada ever have a frame rust recall on the 1st gens?
