2012 TACOMA MEGA-THREAD

Just found it. The code is "PQ". If you go to the toyota website and build your Tacoma, when you get to where you can select the Sport package, you will see the [PQ] in the description if you click on the magnifying glass for more detail. If you were to have your dealer order your truck from the factory, they would type in 7596 and include code PQ (among other codes as well).

I can't wait!! It's gonna be my first truck! I was thinkin Tundra at first, then I truly looked at the economy and realized all of the "hidden" costs of owning a Tundra would probably kill me, and I think I secretly liked the Taco more anyways. I also stumbled upon you guys and that pretty much sealed the deal. Now here I am weeks (according the the fleet manager at Irvine power Toyota) from owning my first truck!

 

It is possible thaere maybe another code for the sport package that also includes the tow package as well. What I would do is look for any double cab longbed or shortbed that is brand new on the lot. Check the window sticker for the trd sport code just to be safe. The dealer should be straight with you. If not walk...

2012 Taco Pics??

Dont worry guys...we are on top of our game here at the "2012 Taco changes" thread. unless I am missing something, we picked this up about page 58 or so of this thread.

What do you guys think though of the changes?

I'm really liking the changes. I havent been a huge fan of the 2005-11 headlights unless you get some of those subtle eyelids. This takes care of that for me. I also like the lower angled bumper and the change in the fog lamps. It seems like there is a bit more of an angle of the grill as it meets the hood. All in all I like it. I also think these are the rims I will go with along with some Nitto Trail Grapplers

One thing that I am a little concerned about is the move from the California plant to a plant in Mexico. This isnt a knock on our neighbors to the south, but does setting up a NEW plant for the production of the Tacoma give anyone concerns? Im worried about trial and error and defective products, not as much as what country its in, just the fact it is a new factory. what do you guys think? Would this hold you back?

 

They didn't make the 2011's at the NUMMI plant in California either

 

I dont know my plants apparently. Where is NUMMI? Is that in Mexico?

First post and it's info from a dealer so take it for what it's worth.

Just got a call from my dealer (north Hollywood, ca) and she stated the 2012's have just popped up in their inventory and are expecting them in October.

She said she'll get me more info and pics when she gets them, even though i'll probably find out more here first.

At least the info corroborates what others have already posted. Still not sure which direction i'll go yet, since I had my ideal taco in my head after seeing all your pics and not sure how the new front end fits with everything.
