I don't think that option was available to a 96 :( I have "31's" right now but I bought the truck used and measured the tires the other day and seen it's actually a 29" but would like to have these gears just so when I actually have the money I can buy a whole new wheel and tire combo

Ok ok Ill jump in on the ban-wagon too! A little info on my truck before I ask my questions. 2000 prerunner 2.7l. Bo7a is the id which means 8" ring gear 4.30 gears and 2 pinion open diff. Ok so lets build up to my question. I went from 245/75/16's to 265/75/16's. With the new tires I am running 2,100 rpm at a true gps 65mph in "overdrive". The low end power was never there even with the smaller tires but now is completely nonexistent. Question #1. Would 4.56 gears be the best option to restore some low end power, or would a lower gear be a better option? Question #2. Given that at 65mph the engine is at 2,100 rpm with stock 4.30 gears, is there any way of estimating what the rpm would be at with the 4.56 gears at 65mph?

dk the rpms but you could figure out the speed difference here..

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/performance-tuning/155144-true-speed-after-regear-formula.html

then the rpms will match what the speedo is reading...i.e. if you speedo is reading 85mph but your only going 65mph due to gears, your rpms at 65mph true speed will be at about the same as 85mph on stock gears

Your RPM's with 4.56 gears at 65 will be 2227rmp. That is given the info above about 2100 at 65 with 4.30. Hope that is what you are looking for.

Best quality gears out there in 4.56 for e-locked 2gen rear ends.

That's not to say other brands aren't good. They are. I just want the best of the best in everything on this truck.
