So yesterday I went to start my truck ('06 6-spd TRD OR DC), seemed fine, but just after the gauges got to their normal position they all went back to zero for a second, then returned to normal. Didn't have any problems driving a short distance, but when I shut it off and tried to lock it nothing happened. When I tried to start it again it was completely dead...no lights, no stereo, and wouldn't start. I pulled the battery cables for a few seconds, put them back on, then it started and ran fine. Today I went to start it, same issue, then the lights and gauges kept dimming, the stereo was all messed up, and the idle was all over the place. I shut it off and tried to restart it and nothing, completely dead again.

I'm assuming it's a computer issue, but I'm not positive. Any ideas?

when you first said about the the gauges went back to zero, i thought it will be instrumental cluster, but the you change about the truck turning back on when you re-plug everything, it can be your alternator or maybe the battery is going? dont sound like a computer issue... is the battery came from the factory?

Yeah I don't think it sounds like a computer issue.. but maybe
some of the stuff you described sounds like a dying battery or loose cables..

I would trouble shoot with some of that stuff, first replace the battery if its old or get it tested, replace cables, replace alternator do it one at a time process of
elimination because I could imagine a computer problem would be the most expensive to fix?

Thanks guys...the battery and positive cable end were replaced a few months ago because of corrosion issues. Perhaps the whole cable is bad.
