Same here. My old Camry(34mpg) went to the in-laws and now the Taco(TRD filter) is my commuter. I get 21-23mpg on the highway, depending on how well traffic flows.

I just purchased an 08 TRD Sport Access Cab V6 4.0 5 speed automatic. Its got 105k miles a Spectra cold air intake Gibson cat back, aftermarket 18.5 deep 17" wheels with slightly larger 265-70R17's and Cooper Discover ATP's. I have two tanks through it and am getting 16.5mpg with 89 octaine. I realize I bought a truck but was hoping for better. Drawing from my experience in bike racing everything I do to go faster is about dropping weight, being more arodynamic, and increasing power output. The most crutial area to loose weight other than on your body is in rotational components mainly the wheels. Be more arodynamic, this is all about reducing air turbulance and drag. Increasing power output reduces the percent of maximum exertion it takes to accomplish a task, ie create more power with the same fuel. Based on this here are my best ideas for saving gas. Buy the lightest weight wheels with tires that have the lowest rolling resistance possible. Get rid of any unnecessary cargo weight. Get a tonneau cover, under bumper air deflector, maybe a cab and or tailgate spoiler. Even a cab to bed seal could help prevent air from dragging behind the cab. Lastly help your engine perform better by getting a good air intake and exhaust system including headers, and high flow cats. Keeps the engine fluids clean, keep the fuel system clean, burn the highest quality fuel, and not in the least, feather the gas pedal

Lowering my 07 taco a few inches made a big difference.
I can feel it when I accelerate in OD.
    Handles much nicer too!
