$450 for 30,000 mile service at the dealership!

I just got suckered in to paying $450 and that's with a coupon for the 30,000 mile service. Since I live in a condo, there are strict rules on not working on vehicles, but for those who can, definitely worth it to use the stickies above and do it on your own. This is just a forewarning of how expensive the 30,000 mile service will be.

 

What does that include? Your condo wouldn't even let you change your own plugs and air filter? I can see them not wanting you changing your oil but damn, you just got taken for a ride...

 

That is nothing i got suckered into 4 CV boot replacements on my old Chevy Blazer. It set me back $1129.47. I also live in a condo .. Dam stealerships

 

I hope they provided plenty of lube...

 

if you can do most of the things yourself,why not just go to a friends house or something?

Yikes, that makes me very thankful for my 30x40 shop...

 

Living in a condo does have it's challenges when it comes to auto maintenance and repair. But that's what friends and friends houses are for.

 

I consider myself mechanically inclined. but it was one of those emergency maintenance issue that was in the middle of winter,no free time (because of OT at work). There was no Lube at all I'm still kinda walking funny.

 

Nothing on the 30,000 maintenance schedule is overly pressing though. You coulda gotten the oil changed and done the rest a few thousand miles later. Spark plugs, differential fluid and t-case fluid aren't pressing at 30k miles.

 

That is very good to know. It will be awhile for me i still have 28,000 to go.

 

Im pretty sure one of my friends jsut paid like $120 for his 30k maint.

 

That's why I asked him what was included. $450 sounds like there may be more than just the basics. I'm guessing fluids for both diffs, x-fer case, oil change, tire rotation, air filter, cabin air filter and all the BS visual inspections they claim to do. I still think he got raped but I would expect any dealership to do all that for $120.

 

I look at it very optimistically if i ever go to jail i can smuggle alot of stuff in..

 

The 30,000 mile service that dealer offered was completely different than what was in the manual. I had the dealer do an oil change, replace spark plugs, replace front and rear differential fluid, and replace transfer case oil. I still can't believe I got charged that much.

As for the doing any of the above services at the condo is not allowed. Last time I did an oil change, someone told the rules committee and I got my one and only warning. I should have a bought house instead of a condo...

 

I think i'd find a local TW buddy and do it at his house.
