How much you all wanna bet that this will be the timeframe for the next "redesign"?! If we don't see the dual vvti this year, then we will for MY13 which will hold us until the redesign which will be hybrid technology. With the onset of all this "green" crap and laws being mandated by our friendly liberal leader, I definitely think that a Hybrid Tacoma isn't too far off. Ford has been playing smart in this economy while still making good trucks so maybe we'll get something cool in return........as long as the Tacoma doesn't look like a Ford I'll be ok.

Not that it matters to me.......I'll be getting a 20??MY Tacoma with the dual vvti and driving it til the wheels fall off........and even then I'm sure it can be fixed. I'm still optimistic for the upgraded V6 this model year coming..........bc technically we don't have one positively identified piece of concrete information as of yet. Even the Sept. 1st production date and Oct. lot debut isn't completely confirmed at this point.

Somebody needs to start a poll for what MY will debut the upgraded V6. This thread has become so long and people have changed their predictions so many times.

    I vote 2012!!

better get a 2012 Tacoma before it becomes a 2013 hybrid lifestyle ranger. Sunddenly sticking with the single VVT-i 236 hp 4.0 dosen't sound so bad.

I'm just glad I got my 2011. When I bought it I too had wondered about waiting for a new design. Guess I made the right choice. :woot:

The 2012 looks ok to me but I plan on driving my 2008 till the wheels fall off. I also had the same plan for my 1995 Tacoma but it went to the crusher with a rusted frame before the wheels fell off.

Did the 2012 Tacoma you drove 3 weeks ago have the upgraded dual vvti engine?! Or a 6 speed automatic?

I know you said cosmetic only but I thought I'd at least ask.

    Thanks for the info!

Damn that is what I feared was happening. This is making me lean towards the new Jeep Wrangler Unlimted Rubi. I would wait another two years but I just blew out my 4th! catalytic converter. Getting real sick of having my car in the show every other month

I hate toyota for this. I don't know what to do. I really want the dual vvti because its a little better on gas. I don't want to keep my 97 4runner for another 2 years.

I might have to buy a new 4runner rather than a dcab tacoma.

    Frickin toyota.

coastalboy, I know, I really want the taco and 6-spd manual but the dual vvti might be more important in the long run.

Another thought is to get the new taco and then in 2 years sell it and get the new one in 2013. I don't think I can afford that though.

I just don't know what to do.... As the GM, what do you suggest?

I wouldn't recommend a Wrangler then. I have two friends with new ones that leak like there's no tomorrow and they're always in the shop for other things as well.

Coastalboy, thanks for the suggestion. I think you are right. The only fear I have about doing that is if something expensive breaks on my 4runner. Its leaking oil at the valve covers and has 160,000 miles on it. I know it will last forever but if I have to change the transmission or something in the next 2 years, I'm sunk...

    Decisions, decisions...

8/13 - PUT $1K down on 2011 PreRunner (Custom Factory Build)
8/20 - Informed that new vehicle would be 2012
8/22 - Dealer sent an updated production order list similar to other posts in this thread, and informed me the vehicle would be delivered 9/10 to 9/20. We'll see how it goes.

So just a final confirmation then, the 2012 Tacoma that you test drove is this the look of the truck?[IMG]

also, the interior, can you give us an idea of what has changed? It sounds like not much has changed but a little to accommodate the entune.

Do you know when official images will be available? I want to see the TRD Sport changes.

So you put $1,000 down on a 2011 and then they told you that it would end up being a 2012? That doesn't sound right.

They should have come back and said, "Hey, we can't get the 2011's anymore...but we can order you a 2012, here is the price difference, what do you think?"
