what to do as far as susp

Hi im new to the TW forums. I mainly exist on the z400 forums for my quad but its time to redo my susp and i was wondering what would be best for my truck. I do some offroad but nothing major, i travel about 500-1k miles a week so i would want something that gives me the offroad capabilities and still offers some what of a smooth ride. Ive read that bilstein 5100's are popular but what all should i do?

not to be an ass but use the search, just like you probably would on the 400 forum

 

billies up front with eibach coils, if you want a lil lift. and new spring pack in back would be best. imo

 

After doing some extensive research I chose to go with the full OME kit. Sounds like the right kit for both highway and offroading. I will be putting mine on this weekend. Check out my build next week and I will have pics up and post the results of handeling. Good luck with your search.

Right now I'm running Toyota UCA with their Struts set at 0. Out back I'm running the non TSB springs.

 

wouldnt a little lift put some pressure on the a-arms?

 

if by a arms you mean the uca and lca, yes some on the uca, some buy light racing ucas but i still have stock and mine have been fine.

 

ya sorry im used to quad lingo. havnt got this truck lingo down yet. but ya. i have a friend that put 2" spacers on his fronts and his uca and lca are super stressed. but i was just thinking of doing the 5100s then. how well do they perform offroad? and as far as eibach springs which did u do? i was prob just gonna run the settings to run it level. i would prefer not to aal in the back though. (sr in college, not a whole lot of cash)

 

Aal is pretty cheap. I got mine from wheelers offroad. I really like my ome 90004 with 881 coils. At first they were a bit stiff but now they are just firm with awesome resistance to body roll. Off road they are nice too. I drove down a river rock trail (dried stream) for 5 miles at a decent clip and while it felt like a washboard im surprised at how well it soaked most of it.

Btw I know it how u feel on the quad lingo. Took me a couple months to figure out a iva was just an a-arm and a strut or coil over is just a front shock.

 

well i was thinking and il prob just go with 5100s and stick with stock coils and leafs.

 

Don't mean to thread jack or anything but since everyone is on the topic, I want to order the eibach coils tonight, I want to make sure I don't need anything else like a diff drop or something

 

I went with an OME full suspension lift with ext. stainless steel brake lines in the rear and LR UCA's up front. Rides and drives awesome.
