Headers "please help"

Hi i just joined this site....

I need some help. I am looking at either getting a throttle body spacer and cold air intake, or headers. can someone give me an opinion what would be a better choice? Also, Does anyone know about the hp gains and sound differences with the JBA headers im looking at? thanx

 

welcome!! skip the throttle body spacer man..................all it does is whistle and lighten your pocket. depending on the year of your truck..........if its got the 3.4 v6....you can do the deckplate mod instead of the intake...............if you have the 2nd generation tacoma....yank the secondary air filter out and get a good drop in filter.............................all cheaper than a cai.....and will yield the same, or better results. go with the headers tho.......small, but good gain. not sure which jba's you are looking at, but they should be ok....tho i dont know the specifics of them.

 

Removing the secondary air filter has been proven to do nothing.

I would advise getting headers all the way. I just put on a set of Doug Thorley Long Tubes earlier this month, and I love them. Great sound, more torque, more horsepower.

I don't know much about the JBAs though.

 

Love the sound. And truck pulls nice above 3000 RPM. I havee the JBA's, not too happy with them, but thats just mine, some others had no issues. Will be ordering my DTLT's next week. Oh and if you feel like wasting cash on a TB Spacer, I can save you some and give my street performance TBS for $45.00 shipped Apparently did not fit w/current intake set up, so I finally had an excuse to get rid of it. No more whistle LOL,,,

i think we should agree to disagree on the secondary filter. as i had said before....on my 06 with the 4.0.................i felt that my truck idled a bit better, and thats about it. lots of people have felt significant increases on the 4cyl. gadget tested the filter and didnt find anything with it. lets look at it like this...............if you feel that it does something,cool.....if you feel that it doesnt...cool again. if it isnt gonna hurt to take it out or leave it in either way....what does it matter really? if you wanna take it out...do so......if you wanna leave it in.........feel free. simple.

x2 the throttle body spacer does sound cool but all it did was set me back about $120 bucks no gains in hp at all..... i did the dec plate mod headers and exhaust and it did a good bit for me and sounds great

 

i got JBA on my 3.4 and it sounds awesome
