leveling kit

how big of a leveling kit would i need for my 04 prerunner DC to make it look good? anybody got a pic of a 1st gen with a leveling kit? i thought about doing the AAL later on but still unsure yet

 

skip on a leveling kit man..................bilstein 5100's would be a way better way to go. you get to level out your ride, and the ride is great.

 

i just put a 2.5 top plate spacer on my 02. i also put a 1.5 shackle lift in the back. i dont have a picture right now but i love it.

 

did the ride stiffen up with the spacer? i read a lot to stay away from them but i do very little if any offroading and thought maybe this is the approach i should take

 

i dont do alot of off roading since i have a prerunner.....if i get the 2.5 front plate would i need to do somethng to the back?

 

I love how it rides now, its a little stiffer and more sensitive to bumps. but it handles alot better and doesnt roll on turns. its not thhaaatt stiff
i think its just right

i have a 2.7L with the 2.5 plate spacer up front, and i put 1.5 shackles in the rear.
you can get by with only doing the front. it will look a liitttle more up but not very noticeable.

for some reason says that product don't exist. anyway, u convinced me to just do the spacer, but i think im gonna go the aal for the rear route. did you replace any shocks/coils or did you just leave it stock? sorry asking a lot of questions..

 

Think about this- with a spacer you are just adding to the stock suspension, we all know that stock Tacoma's have a tendency to have body roll and bottom out pretty easily. With the Bilstein 5100's you are lifting the truck while improving the ride quality both on and off road.

 

Also not to mention that most of the vehicles 01 and older most likely have the original strut in the front. How many miles are on those bad boys? Putting a spacer on a shock that has 50K+ miles is not the best choice.

 

so your saying if i got the spacer route, i might as well replace the coil and shock for the front and may as well change out the back shock to? i have 140000 miles also.

 

Mo thats the beauty of the Bilstein kit, it utilizes the stock spring in front and the rear shocks come 1.5" longer to accommodate for additional lift. We offer TW members a discount on the kit

Just wondering, with that rear shackle lift, how does the rear ride?

my kit came with 1.5inch shackles and new struts.
it was a little stiff at first. but i love the ride. its softend up a little bit but hasnt sagged it doesnt sway back and forth as much also . it holds still on alot of bumps. the trucks movements are shorter jerky bumps rather than long wavy bumps. i like it
its a little stiffer but im fine with it.
i did have to cut my exhaust pipe for the meantime. Im planning on running a Y flowmaster 50 to Dual outs in the near future.
