Is replacing 09 stock radio worth the effort?

I searched through a lot of the older threads about the 2009 stock radio problems (turns itself on and off, changes stations, display goes out, volume knob won't work).

Sorry if this is re-post, but is it worth the effort to have it replaced before the warranty runs out in October? Is the replacement apt to be just as bad? Has Toyota actually fixed the problems?

    Thanks for your advice,
    Bob

Get it replaced even if you are going with an aftermarket radio. Sell the original on ebay. I have not had any problems with mine in 18 months.

Get it out before it catches fire. Replaced mine, and have no problems.

First month of ownership... This month I'm removing front air dam, and also Rhino lining the bed.
You can get such a terrific radio for around 99 bucks aftermarket that is super slim and leaves you a lot of extra storage capacity in your dash. Crutchfield.com has some great ones (Alpine decks are my favorite) and it's a simple 30 minute job to pop them in.

It sounds like your radio is not having problems? Why would you try to get it replaced if it is working normally?

Of course the stock radios (and speakers) are terrible - you have to be tone deff to enjoy listening to their blah, blah, blah... so going aftermarket makes sense.

I kept my original deck for years and started by upgrading to new speakers. I've heard that (and believe) speakers are the place to spend your coin.

My stock '09 radio is working fine, hopefully that continues. I have a nice Kenwood deck with iPod control built in and USB port MP3/etc. playing ability, and I'd put that in if the stock one ever shot craps.

In fact, I would do that now, except for one thing. It's cheap enough to get the dash piece and wiring kit from Crutchfield (something like $40 total), but the module to let the steering wheel audio controls work with the new radio is $100 all by itself. :/
