need tailgate off

Does anyone have an idea of how to take the tailgate off of a 2010 tacoma. I am concerned about the backup camera. Thanks guys!

Detach your cables that support the tailgate. From the tailgate down position, raise the tailgate up as if you were closing it and pull towards you. Should slide right out of the slot.

 

He has a backup camera so he'd have to look for that as well. I just don't want him ripping off the tailgate and damage his camera.


The first thing I bought my truck was the Haynes guide, just in case it didn't come with an owners manual. READ!

as far as the camera, I have one as well but never took it off...just find out where the connector is and disconnect it.

I couldn't recall what that plastic bag was that they supplied me with. I was going to look more into it and help OP after work.
