How would manage this? If your buying I think it might be easier to just find one more local.

That's going to require some serious packaging and a freight service.

It can't be cheap at all. Keep us posted with quotes. I'd love to hear these crazy prices

Depending how far its going, I would suggest a private party shipping company. We use them often for our company. WE basically pay a guy gas $$ plus time to send it in state and if its out of state we use freight but thats pricey.

Im sure it will be expensive but you guys are lucky still, try having stuff shipped to you across the states THEN across the pacific ocean, theres ALWAYS drawbacks to living in Hawaii and shipping costs are one of them MAJOR SUCKS

I would start with shipping companies like Conway. They usually require pick-up and drop-off locations have a loading dock otherwise there's a hefty surcharge. It's going to be big $$$ so get ready.

If it is only across State, sounds like a weekend road trip to me. If it is across country, that is a different matter.

for the price of shipping freight, just get one new for a snitch more. either gonna have to rent a truck/mover, or send in a group freight to/from a business.

    meet halfway??

I used to work at a shop that built conversion vans. Those fiberglass raised tops that you see on custom vans were shipped to us in regular semi trailers. They were very well wrapped in cardboard packaging by the manufacturer. It was very common for them to arrive cracked despite the packing job. I think you are going to have a big hassle and expense to have a camper shell shipped.

I know that one camper shell company in southern california has a dodge dually with custom racks on it and a matching trailer that they use to deliver their products. The guy driving the truck is a company employee. I'm sure there is a reason they do it that way. Probably to get rid of all the damage claims.

Maybe you can find a member on here who is planning a road trip?

thanks for all the input guys.

talking with Conway, they were pretty much with the consensus - its not worth it.

so looks like Im gonna keep looking locally.

yeah, I could buy one new - but dang, those snugs are a pretty penny.

    thanks again.

Even shipping something the size of a guitar case will cost you an arm and a leg, as I found out recently. the only way to ship things cheaply, one-off, is to keep the size and weight of the package down.
