Tonneau- which do u use, and is it waterproof?

I'm looking for a weatherproof, or as weatherproof as they come, tonneau cover, in a roll up.

I've used eXtang's on my last two trucks. First one was the cheapest soft cover made, with snaps, never leaked for 6+ years. Current cover is a J-hook model that's been on for 2 years with no leaks.

 

I have an Access LE for almost 2 years now with no leaks.

UNDERCOVER and yes its water tight..... Been a great purchase.

Stood on it to trim a tree then opened it up put the waste in the back and rode to the dump cover open. I thought about getting a cap but the Undercover is so much more convenient when it comes time to lose it for something large. Having a DC helps for larger items that need height.

yup it leaks a little bit up front but i could fix it easily by trimming the gasket so it sat better on the bed. love the look of the canvas vs vinyl just wished it opened from the front also

 

I have to agree. The Undercover is pretty awesome, and lightweight.

 

Your best bet is a hard cover that over hangs the bed sides. I never seen a soft cover that was 100% water proof. I had an access cover that was great but water did get in sometimes. They sell those tailgate weather strips as well. Those roll n locks are great but are $1200 plus

 

If you go roll up, get a Lo pro. You won't be disappointed. Mine has kept water out during heavy summer downpours.

Yup, OP how much you got to spend?

 

I don't recall the manufacturer of mine but it is the zip lock type. I have never noticed any water inside and I never bothered to remove the wax paper cover on the adhesive strips. I payed about $250 for mine and had it on for 2 years now. Still tight but the stitching in the corners is starting to come loose.

Just make sure you put it back on before it gets too cold out. Like everything else it shrinks when cold

Cost is a factor along with function. You also need to decide what you want the cover to do and are you happy with what it will not do.

For me it was keeping the elements out of the bed and easy access to the bed when I need to haul dirt or mulch.

There are a lot of great choices out there and all of them have pros and cons

 

Undercover SE - been in heavy rain and it fairly well sealed - I wouldn't say waterproof but for anything I would drive in there have been no major water leaking in.

 

Went with the Truxedo low-pro. Rolls up nicely, adjustable tension, "velcro" in place. Not 100% water proof (if I use the pressure washer and get right at the attach points, I'll get a little moisture). No problems with it at all. I've had it on both my Tacomas and my Dad has it on his F-150.

If I want to be certain that my cargo will stay dry (sleeping bags and what-not) I just throw them in a large rubbermaid container - helps keep stuff organized as well.

 

I have an Extang TuffTonno, it keeps things dry and the J-strips are much nicer than the snaps I have had on prior trucks.

Thanks for the input, those with the extang tuff tonneau, any issues at speed with sagging or flapping, some say it's excessive, some not?

 

Does anyone have any experience with the Smittybilt Smart Cover soft tri-fold covers??
They're fairly new and comparable to the Trifecta and the Tonno-pro, but the rails are bowed instead of flat.
I can't find any customer reviews as they seem fairly new....
