Does anyone have any advice or recommendations before my factory warranty runs up? I have 34,000 miles on my 2007.

Should I buy an extended warranty (I think they are cheaper now)? Should I have a 30 point check done for $30? Should I have an alignment done?

Troy Dietrich is the guy you want to talk to or email.
Great price and no sales tax if you're not in Mass.
I bought a 7yr/100K miles Platinum warranty for a Camry XLE I owned and paid $880.Dealer wanted $1595.
I'm going to purchase at 7/75 from him eventually.

Hey Proone, if you have not had the suspension TSB done now would be the time. Do a search on here and you'll find everything you need to know about it. And welcome to TW.

Am I reading this right, are they going to replace all this:

Spring Assembly Rear , RH Leaf Spring 1
Spring Assembly Rear, LH Leaf Spring 1
    Leaf Spring U-bolt 4
    Shock Absorber, Front 2
    Shock Absorber, Rear 2

So I get 4 new shocks?

My truck does ride extremely rough (I haven't hauled anything with it yet), I was told it was the stiff TRD suspension...

Take it in and have everything checked. I posted a few weeks ago about running over the mileage for my warrenty then having to shell out $500+ for a part that broke that shouldn't have.

If you already have the TRD option, all you get with this are the new rear springs and an alignment. I recently had the TSB performed on my 2009 Dcab, and am very happy. If it rides any stiffer than before, I cannot really feel it. However, since I am no longer bottoming out against the stops, I'm not really feeling that. Of course, the TSB raises the back end up some so now I'm riding nose low. I have some Toytec coilovers to deal with that as soon as I get the time.

Well I called my Toyota dealership (Cedric Theel in Bismarck, ND) and asked if I could bring my truck in and have the suspension worked on because of the Technical Service Bulletin. He asked what kind of problems are you having, I told him it rode stiff, especially compared to other Tacomas I've been in.

He said the TSBs are for the mechanics only, if a mechanic is having a hard time diagnosing a problem, he then looks at the TSBs.

He said it wasn't something I can have fixed like a recall.

Hey Proone, try calling Toyota customer service - 1-800-331-4331. Tell them that the truck is riding harsh when loaded. Mention TSB-0305-08, and tell them what dealer you are working with. You will get a case # and Toyota will call your dealer. Stop in in a day or 2 with the TSB printed out. I think if you get a case # before the warranty runs out they are obligated to do the work. Good luck.

I'm waiting for an email from him.I requested costs of a 7/75 and 7/100 Platimum on a 4X4.I'm going to guess and say the cost for a 7/100 will be around $1150.4X2 even less.
You can cancel your policy and buy it again from Troy.
Give him a call and see what he says about just that.

Here's post from 9/07 on warranty costs from Troy.
I would think a 4X2 would be even cheaper.

On a $30,000 4wd Tacoma the Platinum warranty lists for $1650 from the dealership. Troy can do $880.00 for the 7 yr/100k mile Platinum coverage w/ $0 deductible. [IMG]
(Troy offers the same warrany on a 4x4 Tundra for $990)

At the dealership when I bought me truck. I went into the office, and had 1 dealer on speaker phone (my phone) and on my Wifes phone, had another dealer. I set the phones down on the desk and said, Ok, Who wants my money, and within a few min. I had a great deal on my truck, and a cheap extended warranty. ;)

    Just got this from Troy..

    Hi Joe,

Here is all the info and quotes...and regarding the TRD supercharger; as long as it's
installed by a Toyota dealer it would be covered, but there's also a $175.00 surcharge you would have to add to the the below quotes which applies to all turbo or supercharged vehicles.

I am currently offering the Toyota Platinum 7 yr / 100,000 mile Extra Care
    plan w/ $0 deductible for $945.00 and the 7 yr / 75,000 mile plan for $700.00
    on Tacoma 4x4s's.

Most of the details on the Extra Care plans can be found directly at
Toyota's website at the following link, including all the various terms and
options available, just let me know if you would like a quote on a different
    plan.

    http://www.toyotafinancial.com/consumer/tfs.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pg_NewVehicleProtectionPlan

Here are the purchase instructions if / when you decide to purchase.

I would need you to mail me an original signed letter indicating the exact
current mileage on your vehicle, and a copy of your current registration.(If
you are in a state where you don't get your state registration right away, I
can also use a copy of the bill of sale, purchase contract, or some other
official document which shows the owners name and address, along with the
    vehicles VIN)

Sorry, I know its a little inconvenient, but its the only way we could come
up to cover ourselves on the mileage and VIN verification. After I receive
your letter, I can call you for credit card info, if that's how you choose
to pay, or you can include a check, money order, or the credit card info
with it. Also, make sure that the registration copy is legible (I have
gotten a couple of them recently that I couldn't read or had part of the VIN
    chopped off on the copy).

    Mail to:

    Toyota of Greenfield
    12 Olive Street
    Greenfield, MA 01301

    Attn: Troy Dietrich

    Phone - (413) 772-0231 (Dealership)
    Phone - (413) 772-0989 (My direct line).
    Fax - (413) 774-2247

    Thanks,

    Troy

P.S. Toyota has recently come out with a Toyota Rewards VISA card, if it helps anyone I can submit an application for it and if approved you can instantly use it to purchase the warranty plan. This would give you 0% for the first 6 months, plus you would get reward points which can be redeemed at any Toyota dealer for service, parts & accessories, or towards the downpayment of a vehicle purchase.

Plus this would help me personally....I get a small incentive from Toyota for each card I sign up. So even if you don't want it for this transaction, if you or anyone you know is interested in a Toyota Rewards VISA card, please let me know.
