I don't live on the coast, but living in northeast they are predicting for trees down major flooding for much of northeast. Is anyone else taking precautions?

I thinking of buying a generator...

Well i dont live anywhere near you but i would buy a generator cause those are good to have regardless and of course your survival kit with food ,batteries and what not. Im ALWAYS prepared and i think it would be a good idea if you got prepared even if that happens or not IMO

Lived in the Florida Keys for three hurricane seasons. My suggestion is to go get all your supplies quickly as stated above. Store shelves will look like a beer cooler on sunday morning = EMPTY. Flashlights won't heat up your house like candels. A weather radio is good to have too. Good luck, and hurricane parties ROCK!

If I lose power, I wonder if my Power outlet in my truck will be enough to periodically run my sump pump. I dont care if it pumps slow, just so it pumps. I think I will try later.

Agreed...and being at the beach during a hurricane party ought to be interesting! I'm headed down to Myrtle Beach tomorrow since its supposed to just brush it and hit up further in NC.
Yeah if the storm happens to turn and you get the right side of it that thing is gonna be toast or at least damaged. The left side of the storm is never as bad as the right.

I'm starting to get a little nervious. I've been through some of the big ones in New England, I think it was Alice in 1960 that I remember as the worst one. I'm about 12 miles from the coast in CT, near the RI border. Just because the last few hurricanes that came this way fizzled out, don't take this lightly. If it hits hard, plan on a week or so with no power, and trees down all over.

I've got a big oak tree with a limb hanging out over the garage. Hope it misses and good luck!
