i saw that commercial, and from the trailer, nothing looked familiar...

they also said the route was passing through Death Valley, so it likely goes along the northern side of the Mojave, which is closed to the general public...

    I have a Kenwood TM-V71a and Yaesu FT60r.

Do you guys plan on doing Mojave Road East as well? Just wondering since Hole in the Wall campground looks to be only about half way through the entire Mojave Road (west, central and east). It would be cool if we can do the entire Mojave Road, but please don't plan around me. :D

My bad. I missed his name.

We're gonna need a lot of firewood for two nights. Everyone should bring at least 2 bundles of wood.

ok... i know the idea has been tossed around about rolling by hwy to Hole in the Wall campground on friday morning, then spending friday and saturday exploring the Mojave...

i think we should still wheel from Harvard Rd and drop into the desert to camp... ony because those soft sand washes are fun, and Afton Canyon would be the only water crossings we would hit...

also, we have that one set of caves off to the right just after the second water crossing...

that would give us a wheeling fix on friday, and we would still have all day saturday to back track a little bit and hit up the caverns, phone booth, and whatever else we come across...

so, with a month left, let's lock down this itinerary...

let me know your thoughts, guys...

oh, it also doesn't look like i will have a running truck for this, so im tentatively out unless someone picks me up...

im still here though to help plan the run since i started the thread...

I was thinking about going straight to camp to find a camping spot and drop off all of our gear since we'll be carrying extra wood, food, and gas. Matt was dragging his rear end last year with the firewood. Then we'll have all day Friday and Saturday to explore where ever we want with our campsite already taken care of. However, if we go straight to camp like we normally do then it shouldn't be a problem going through Afton like we always do. I also read that Mitchell Caverns is closed which is a bummer.

I was also thinking about camping at Caruther's Canyon. I've seen some nice pictures of the camp.

Either way I'm down for anything.

I'm going to start doing some research of some sites for us to see. We definitely need to plan this out since we'll be out there for 3 days.

Mike, I'm sure you'll find a ride. Jame and Ed usually ride solo and if my friend doesn't come you can ride with me.

I havent got my book yet for Mojave Johnnie. dont know whats up. I just sent an Email. I wouldnt be against doing other sections of Mojave and starting at hole in the the wall. The watter crossing is gone now so doesnt really matter. But you know me im down for anything and since the rear end is is getting all new parts, going to be fun.

My Wife might roll this time so ill be cruising at a mild speed shes never been out with me before so im kind of stoked about it.

Gotcha. I was hoping to hit Mojave Road East though. Looks like I'll be joining the Toyota120 crew. Plus I wouldn't be able to keep up with you LT guys anyways .

I'm sure we'll bump into each other on the trails.
