Shame to see him go, the man is a real genius!

When he took over again in 2001, Apple was -1.5 BILLION in debt, and months away from bankruptcy. That is some feat which can never be defeated. Apple may be playing catch up but I don't think it's due to his efforts as a CEO! Sad day to see him go!

I'm no Steve Jobs worshipper but I am an Apple addict. I have 5 apple computers, an iPad, too many iPods to count, and an iPhone. I'm typing on my 2005 15" Powerbook G4 that is still running like the day I opened the box in June 2005. Never a single problem with it.

I'll give it to Steve... he is a visionary genius and his products have changed the world.

My next computer will be an Alienware m11x or an m14x. Almost bought one, but decided on tires instead... Lol

I'm hoping the new CEO, whoever that will be, will lower prices on Macs. If they did they would dominate the home market. In an interview from the 80's Steve admitted he could lower his prices and considered this but decided not to because his product was superior and people would pay the high price. I would switch if they did, but it's a matter of principle, I won't buy one now because I feel Apple is using their reputation to gouge their customers.

My sympathies for Steve and his family. Pancreatic cancer is a horrible way to go.

The stock price would beg to differ.

Since January 2010, the stock price has nearly doubled ($200ish to $383 right now), and its market cap recently surpassed EXXON to make it the largest company in the world.

Tim Cook is the new CEO, though Jobs will stay on as chairman of the board. Cook is from Alabama. He's an auburn grad, which means that all new Apple products will come pre-loaded with forestry and animal husbandry apps, and new innovations will roll around once every 53 years or so...
