Good grief this is wearing me out trying to find wheels for my 2008 TRD -Off road Tacoma. I want to stay with 16" wheels and so after searching and looking at every post I could find for the last week.

I finally think I have a pretty good idea of what I want and I call 4 wheel parts.
I did not get the guys name but he just told that NO ONE makes a 16" wheel that will fit on a 2005+ Tacoma. I told him that while searching the net I have seen several pics of 16" wheels on Tacoma's His reply was...
" People drive drunk everyday but they will not tell you that they do"

    What??????????????

Please someone tell me this is not normal service from 4wheelparts.

He would not even listen to anything I had to say because he already knew it all.

I have looked at all of the wheel threads....but I ask that if you have a 16" chrome wheel on you 2nd gen Tacoma please post it on this thread. I plan to keep calling until I get the same guy and once I get his name I will direct him to this thread.

    Thanks

I spoke with them a couple weeks ago, their 16" wheels fit fine, but the wheels they offer are not a 'bling' wheel.

They tried that shit w/me. I told him I wanted the 16's and haulted his sails pitch for 17's and 18's. Dont shop through them. Research through the actuall wheel make, ie... ProComp, Dick Cepeck, Motto Metals. Then when you find your pick, check the specs and make the order. If 4 Wheel Parts BS's you, move to different retailer.

I asked them today if they had a Dyno, or knew of a reputible place in Raliegh, the dude basically stopped me short with, "No, there is not much you can do to your truck." Obviously very clueless of Tacomas.

Anyways, here is my 16's, result of sticking to what I wanted.

Hes partially correct. A lot of 16" wheels have a problem with being unable to clear your calipers.

I personally like the Procomp 7089 and Wheelers 16" wheels.

First, Let me say hello to all . I`m a newbie. I Live in Franklin NC .I own a 06 Tacoma Access Cab. I`m a retired USAF officer . I love my truck but I`m going to ask a question that`s probably been asked over & over again! I`ve got 16" steelies. I want 16" alloys. I guess the safest thing to do is to go to Asheville & buy TRD wheels they have there. The dreaded TPMS issue comes up ! I see nice TRD wheels on Ebay , They specify that the TPMS sensors are not included. This means I`d have to buy the wheels go to Toyota (60 miles away) Buy sensors to fit the alloys , get them coded ,& be done with it. I live in a small town ,The tire dealers here don`t really care about TPMS or they`re not familiar with tpms differences. That`s why I figure I`d bite the bullet & buy the whole shooting match at Toyota,I presume the`y take care of everything. It would cost more ,but I want the wheels. I really am not familiar with what can & cannot be done. Can you guys help with suggestions ,& facts about this whole mess!

Well I was told the same thing from 4x4 OFF ROAD, I was going to buy the PRO COMP series 1069, and was told the problem is only when you have the TRD package, they have larger brake set ups and will rub. I tried another tire shop and was told the same thing. Not a happy camper.

Forgot to mention that this only applies to the years 2005 and up models with the TRD Package. Any info on a place in Phoenix that has better knowledge on this would be apreciated.

Hmm... I'm going to run 16's on my truck and the wheels I've tried so far have cleared the calipers just fine.

I put one wheel on the truck and bolted it tight and spun it around many times to listen for any scraping or rubbing, and then checked the inside of the wheel for any markings. Both I tried fit just fine with no hint of rubbing the caliper.

I'm going with the Eagle Alloy 185's in 16" and they fit on there fine.

K... so I guess I kinda lied. These particular 16 inch wheels clear the sides of the caliper no problem, but there was some minor rubbing on the very outside strip of metal on the caliper.

So another option you can think about is getting some thin wheel spacers

    Only place it's rubbing

hey chasgrips. first off welcome to the site. i too had the steel wheels and wowndered if this will fit if that will fit etc. i bought my wheels at discount tire and they swore up and down the tpms from my steelies would fit the alloys i bought. i didnt believe em but they actually did. they may not fit in all alloys but thatnkfully they worked in mine. i hated the steel wheels so much i just took a shot and was going to look at my options had they not worked. for the record discount tire in spartanburg sc is who i delt with. they were great and i had zero problems with them .
