Same here, big ass oak tree. It can't fall in a good direction, one way is the garage, the other is my house, the other is my neighbors and if it falls toward the road, it's taking the power lines with it and blocking the street. Oh, and the Taco's parking spot is directly underneath... Sunday is going to be a tense day!

Me too, I want it to go back out to sea! I called about having that tree removed before the weekend. Hopefully they can do it and not absolutely rape me with the price.

I live just north of DC and my generator and camping gear are ready for a power outage. We are ready to go into survival mode if we need to. Since we are ready, I doubt we will get hit as bad as they say we will.

I was in Marathon, FL 36 hours before Andrew made landfall, and then was back in Cutler Ridge the following Saturday to help friends "Dig Out". I also grew up in the mid-west and have seen my share of tornadoes, but nothing compares to the devastation of a class 3 or higher hurricane. I seriously hope Irene turns hard right and heads back out to sea before making landfall in the US. If you are thinking it's just another storm, it's not just another storm. Be safe, be prepared for the worst.

Back in the day when Hugo hit...We were without power for upwards of 2 weeks

My parents and I lived out of our popup camper

My dad likes to pretend he's an amateur meteorologist...so he tracks all the storms and tries to predict their path etc etc

Any time he thinks we have a chance of getting anything more than a little rain, he stocks up on propane and fuel

TacomaWorld and the fact I live in Florida made me do the diff mod on my truck FIRST. Hurricane Charlie, Jeannie, Francis, Wilma, tropical Storm Fey made me glad I did. B 4 my old computer crashed I had some crazy videos of the aftermath of said storms. My street was 2 feet underwater at it's lowest point. My neighbor had an older lifted 4runner on a set of 35's and he was the only truck on the flooded road, besides the fire departments 6x6 looking for stranded civilians. I went door to door in my fishing waiders to see if they were ok. My dad, who lived 9 miles away could have come to my house in his Air Boat VIA surface roads and never run dry. It is truely a crazy sight to see and an even worse one to live through. I didn't have a generator then, or food stocked up, but I sure as hell do now, my generator is at the stand by, I bought it second hand, nothing too big, but enough to power a fridge, fan, a few lights, creature comforts. The food is something called THE ARC. All powdered soup mixes, beverges, dinners, good for a family of four for 3 weeks. I think they will taste like crap but it's better than starving to death. I work at a place where we sell gas and I do have a propane camping set up that is good to go, lantern, stove, grill all off a propane tank, which is full and one spare. Last time I went through this it was two weeks without power, hot water. Man I wish I have natural gas service here, but no,...a NG Generator could power my home if this happens again.

AND to edit this post.....GOOD luck to all my fellow and non fellow TW brothers and sisters out there, I hope this storm decides to pass us all by, and if it dosen't, remember to be a good neighbor and help out your fellow man, god bless

When I here them talking about Irene, all I can think about is Blackhawk Down. "Irene, I repeat f*cking Irene"

But on a serious note I hope it fizzles out for everyone's sake.

hope you guys don't get hit by it, its pretty bad right now, when it passed through the island it was barely a Cat 1 hurricane and we are still suffering the consequences, can't imagine how much stronger it is now. I have family in MD and I'm kind of worried

I was in Boston last year when they were supposed to get hit (or brushed) by the hurricane...think that was in early fall  Regardless, nothing but a little rain hit us, but it was a blast, being one of only a handful of people in the bar, getting hammered
