5 or 6 lug on which tacos?

Hi guys,
Been looking at getting my first Tacoma over the last 2 weeks or so and am thinking of getting a 2wd one.

I see many posts regarding the lift options and such and see the 6 lugs seem to be preferred, depending on the use of the truck.

Anyone know what years/models have which suspension setup?

2wd means either a 6 Lug pre runner, which has the 4x4 suspension without the 4wd or you can get the 5 Lugger base model like I have. The 5 Lugger has totally different suspension and rides lower.

 

i see the 5 lugger more as a commuter truck/commercial truck. The 6 luggers is a lot beefier and can handle more off road situations; as well as TONS of aftermarket support unlike the 5 lug.


If you are thinking of going full Long Travel, it really doesnt matter then.

 

but theres more support for 6 lug models though.

4x4's and Pre-Runners (2wd with 4x4 suspension) have the 6 lugs

2wd base models have 5 lugs.

thats what mine is and i have the 4 banger

 

was talkin about the long travel part

 

unless you plan on lowering the truck, get a 6 lug. You won't regret it.
