Why so much attitude in the Tacoma World?

I joined this forum a little over a week ago when I traded in my 2007 modified JK Unlimited for a 2011 Tacoma DC TRD OR. Since 1986, I have owned 6 different Toyota 4WDs. Some were slightly modified, some stock and they ALL did what I needed them to do from towing, wheeling, camping, etc.

I will have to say I am a a bit taken back by the amount of attitude and criticism that I see thrown around in this forum. On several occasions (within only a week), members have posted questions asking for help (regardless of their level of knowledge of trucks, toyotas, wheelin or other) only to receive criticism and worthless comments from cocky, "I am the supreme ruler of wheeling" know it alls.

Has it always been this way? I assume people begin to pick out these types and their bullshit.

I write this also knowing there are the complete opposites as well....Thanks for being helpful.

Unfortunate with a resource with such great potential.

it didnt use to be like this it seems, but there are peolpe on here that are annoyed when the same thing is posted 100s of times. like what 3 inch lift should i get. that question has been asked and answered 1000s of times, if some of the new people searched a bit, it would come right up.

same with the 2012 taco. theres like 12 threads on it with a picture of it within a few days.

but there are those dicks, and they are weeding them out. you just joined a week ago.... the biggest dick here(my opinion) was banned and all his posts were deleted.

people just get annoyed of people asking the same question over and over

oh and by the way... this is a repost and it is in the wrong section.

It depends on different things, from the attitude of the poster to the topic being questioned.

People get frustrated because theres literally hundreds of posts asking the same questions, and it's general knowledge that these posts have already been answered and are easy to find....but theres still those people that would rather make a new thread rather than look at the one posted 15 minutes ago. (Will these fit? Do I get vibes from a lift? Where do I buy 5100's?...those kind of Qs.)

Then theres the poster's attitude. abrasive attitudes will lead to crap fights. There's also many a time where slight criticism or sarcastic humor is taken the wrong way, and everyone gets fired up over what should have been a side comment.

I know I have made my abrasive comments, but usually theres a reason for it. If you see posts that seem too harsh, press the ! sign on the bottom left of the post under the poster's name, and let the mods handle it from there.

Just cyber bullying in a way i guess and people saying their opinions despite how others might take it. If you can insult someone for what they said and not get caught or have someone get in ur face then why not say it? U wont run into them.

Simple, because people expect handouts, they flood the 2nd gen list with things that can easily be found in searches. A small amount of work/searching can reap massive rewards, and when there is a legitimate question/comment/concern post a topic and have a discussion with senior members. Its the same on any forum, and its in all the FAQ's.

Really this place is pretty tame compared to a lot of other sites you could join. Sit back and try not to take it too personally. Of course there is the "report a post" button [IMG]if you need to bring it to the mods attention.

It's because everyone is a retard except for (insert your name here).

The site has seen a massive influx of new members. This can cause cultural shift.

Uphold the culture we want, lead by example, and be respectful. Even with OZ.

And avoid giving people a rough time unless you have some rapport established with them. Interwebz, like e-mail, can lose a lot in translation.

I get the jokes and jabs absolutely. For the same questions asked over and over...I see it can be annoying especially if someone does want to AGAIN provide a legit answer. In those cases...repost the link to the forum...which I have seen done.

Thanks for moving to the off topic discussion.
