Hurricane Irene... What are you doing / planning ???

We are slated to get a shit ton of rain & gusts of about 60 mph. here north of Philly starting Sat. night....

I plan on just building in the garage provided I dont lose power on Sunday...

Anyone else have plans???

I may hit the beach for the sunrise to get some good shots...then when my buddy wakes up with the kayaks we will park a truck a the south end of the island and drive to the north end to get in the water.. Current was RIPPING this afternoon.

 

Well, have been getting prepared for the storm since Thursday. Trying to prevent my basement from flooding again.
Moved as much as I could up in to the dining room
Put the washer, dryer and freezer on cinder blocks
Just siliconed around the basement window seals
Bought a back up sump pump that works off of the city water pressure
Put a new GFCI breaker in. I think the breaker was bad and caused the sump pump to trip last October causing my first 1.5ft flooded basement.

Other than that, I have to go be an usher in my buddies wedding in Gettysburg, PA today, then hurry home.

 

nothing....were supposed to get 50 mph winds and 6 inches of rain...nothing we cant handle.

 

I'll be cleaning crap up it the yard before it ends up in someone's window

 

Working all weekend.....

 

One of my neighbors is watering their yard.....somebody didn't get the memo

 

A case of beer for emergencies and plenty of ice to keep it cold if the power goes out!!

 

i need a boat to drive down the road but the taco suffices

 

NYC is knee deep in evacuations..... LIRR and subways closing and everything....

 

its not getting to new york for another 12 hrs probably, and the rest of the east coast will probably have weakened it down to nothing by the time that happens.

 

where you at? i never left raleigh yesterday, so im pretty much high and dry. . . though i wish these tall skinny pines in my backyard would quit swinging so much.

even the fire dept is evacuating and long beach is cutting power at 5pm tonight...eye expected to pass directly over my town.....roads are closing...but im doing this

I plan on throwing the truck into 4 lo and fighting my way to work tomorrow. I bet I will have to drive over trees and telephone poles and other debris, I dont think I will have any problems.
