Do that if you want your truck to ride like a 1970's Chevy pickup...

    Bilstein 5100's are recommended.

Pre load spacers will make the ride more firm, and "Top Plate" spacers can over extend and cause damage to the ball joints, or break the shocks. Search around the site, and see what different set ups are out there, and consider expanding your budget a little bit for a better lift. Welcome !

Spacers generally give a harsher ride, and lead to early wear for a lot of different parts.

Cheapest way to level it out is to buy a set of bilstein 5100's and set the front struts to the middle setting.

    Edit:

http://downsouthmotorsports.com/ is the cheapest place to find them, and they have a TW discount code too.

It just means you "might" have to replace them earlier then later, unless you run some hardcore off-road. The main thing thats compromised is the ride (IMO)

i hardly do "extreme off roading" the most i do is every now and then mountain driving and not to mention driving on crappy roads in california (pot-holes and uneven roads)the lift will mostly be looks and later on put bigger tires. i just want to make the truck look level... the slight slant looks kinda lame...

Your initial question was "Will a 2.5 inch spacer ruin my factory ride". I can tell you without question. Yes.

I had spacers on for about a weekend before they came off.

how much do you want to spend? The 5100's I mentioned earlier keep a decent ride and are just under $300 with the TW discount code.

But for the VERY BEST ride w/leveling possibility is to go with high-end coilovers, like King, Fox or Icons.

Any lift is going to ride a little more firm than factory, unless y9ou get a drop bracket lift, but those are about 4" to 6"

Lol!!! @HOMERTACO AND 4WHEELIN4BANGER .. Okay let me introduce myself... I'm a female that doesn't back down, I'm an outdoor kinda gal.. I love to fish, horse back ride and drink beer! I am a proud owner of a bitch'n 2011 timberland mica 4 door v6 SR5 PRERUNNER fully loaded tacoma. I have been obsessed with tacoma for as long as I could remember. I especially fell in love when the 2nd generation. I worked my butt off as saved my money And bought MY tacoma :) now I want to make some mods. If I get suspended oh well .. grow up! I don't need a website to make me feel accepted. ya Im gonna be honest, I maybe a little cocky, but I don't like to beat around the bush! if it really bothered you that much that I posted a question in the intro forum why take the time to post on my question? Did you just want to threaten me? Or put me in "my place " because I'm a noob... If it bothered you soooo much just report me to the TacomaWorld police ... eh...whatever... thanks to everyone else for the helpful insight! Happy truck'n!

Relax. The "suspension" that 4wheelin refers to is the suspension forum, he's not inferring that your account is going to be SUSPENDED from the site. Take some time to read around and get a feel for what kind of posts should go where.

Welcome to TW from someone who joined recently as well.
