Boy am I bummed. Was gonna have them put on today when I got home at my local shop and when I got there to have everything installed the guy pointed out that one of the rears was leaking. It appears to be leaking out the the cap that gets crimped on the bottom where the shaft comes out. The corner of the box is stained and I did not even notice it.

Anyone else have this problem or am I the lucky one. Hopefully DownSouth can get me one out here asap. Now I get to look at them instead of drive them. Bummer

i'd like to see what the circumstances really were... a company messes up, tell them, and the company fixes it in a "reasonable" time period.

in law "reasonable" can be defined in a few ways, but the best way in this situation in the next available business day.... from what i see on the other post he has contacted you and this thread is now worhless....

Ok well first of all you guys got bad information. I did contact the guy. I called got nothing. So I emailed him to let him know about the bad shock and said that I hope he is able to handle this promptly for me as I have been screwed before through ebay. Not my fault the guy took offense for me stating the situation and then clearly cried to you people.

Did I say anything threatening. I asked if anyone has had these shocks leak. Not has Downsouth sent you guys faulty items. I did not say one bad thing about his company, his person, or anything. I said I hope he can get me some quickly. Is that bad?

I paid good money for an item and I don't know him/you people from a rock on the sidewalk. So I have the right to email the guy through ebay and tell him that if this can't be worked out then I have the option to contact paypal.

Also, I did contact him before posting here. To see if anyone has had oil on the shock from assembly methods from the factory. Is it wrong to ask questions to you guys regarding a product? My bad!

It's all in my head at the moment...
You may have contacted him but it sounds like you didn't wait for a time reasonable reply. It's unreasonable to expect the vendor to be sitting on the phone or computer at the exact minute you have discovered something wrong, especially at the time of day you indicated. You didn't look at these items and inspect them prior to the day of install? Hell Mary....I know that when I receive goodies for my truck or anything for that matter, I'm ripping into it like it's Christmas just to get that new part smell huff. (anyone else care to admit to that?) What if it wasn't a leak but a missing bushing/nut/bolt etc.... A quick inspection or fondle prior to getting all your ducks in a row would of been a huge help and could of at least diffused this situation.

I went to have my local tire shop install my shocks today and come to find out the one of the rear shocks is leaking. The box is wet on one of the ends. These were not installed. I put them on the store counter and the guy noticed the oil coming from the shaft side of the shock.
I am expecting a replacement sent to me as soon as possible. Please tell me how you are going to arrange for UPS to pick up the package as well. I would appreciate a quick response and solution to this problem or I will be forced to contact Paypal for my money returned. I attempted to contact you today Fri 30 at 445pm pac. time but your phone was turned off. Thanks

    Not threatening?

That part about "I am expecting a replacement sent to me as soon as possible"....You might as well had your hand wrapped up in his shirt and beeen nose to nose with him.

And the part in red.....Pretty embarrassing too,

"Please tell me how you are going to arrange for UPS to pickup this package as well". The "please" part was ok....the "tell me how" part was aggressive. You are not giving them the chance to respond to the first question and you are still piling on more questions. What's the big whoop with the return? You have something of THEIRS....they are gonna need it back for QA. It is in your possession. (This is where you get to make the hostage tape).

Understandably you were upset but there are TACTFUL ways of getting things done to your advantage. Count your blessings that they are a good vendor and good people to work with. You could of really rubbed them to the point where your blessed shock was going to take a world tour on UPS.

Not kicking you too hard but I'd like to take the chance to defend DSMS even though I have never met and/or done business with them yet. One "Oh Shit erases a boat load of AttaBoys". You start spreading bad rumors about their customer service, it's hurts a lot more than you think.

Take a breath and I'm glad to see this has all been worked out.

    Don't forget the pictures.

    1) Ditch the sarcasm first of all.....
    2) If you have an issue with a vendor leave the name out untill the issue is resolved, or they completly ignore you
    3) Feel free to ask questions, dont take an attitude
    4) Don't get pissed off, its only each indiviuals opinion, if you dont like the response ignore it
5a)We love taking care of our own on TW, if nobody has had an issue, you wont get a reply regarding a product
5b) If nobody has had an issue, and they would like to write a response, its an open forum for a reason and they do.
    6) ANY BUSINESS THAT SERVES A CUSTOMER IS WILLING TO ASSIST A NICE CUSTOMER QUICKER THAN A RUDE/ABRUPT ONE.

just a word of wisdom, take it for what its worth...

I'll chime in here a little...

Don't take any critism here wrong...not only from myself, but everyone else.

The members here are just trying to point out how you went about the situation. Maybe in your mind what you said in the e-mail didn't seem "bad", but reading it did feel a bit threatening. It may be that in your heart your intentions were not to make the vendor feel this way, but please choose your words wisely. Words of choice can be misconstrued and taken out of context.

You sent the proper e-mail regarding your circumstances with the shocks...it was somewhat your part to patiently wait for a response. Vendors, like others have said, are not available at everyones' convenience...heck I can't count the times I wasn't able to get a hold of someone due to a problem...at the moment it sucks...but patience goes a long way.

DSMS is a great vendor and they have absolutely top notch customer satisfaction. They WILL take care of you...be grateful in that sense.

But please...next time...choose your words wisely...instead of demanding how they're going to go about the situation...ask nicely what they can do to help you out....oh and don't threaten and say you'll get paypal involved in the first e-mail it just doesn't sound good.

    Kind Regards,
    Ryan
