How to remove Taco Logo from door

I want to remove the silver tacoma logo from the door. I want to paint it black to match the new rims. Anyone know how to do that? Thnks

 

Use a hairdryer to heat up the glue, and then run fishing line behind the emblem to take it off.

And if anyone says plastidip, ignore them.

 

take some strong fishing line, and put it between the door and the emblem, in a sawing motion to loosen the glue..A heat gun works well to soften up the glue as well

 

Easy. Fishing line and hair dryer. Heat it up or leave truck in direct sunlight for awhile. Hair dryer to heat up adhesive, then use the fishing line to cut through the adhesive tape by using a sawing motion back and forth. Comes right off that way. I just used my hands, soap and water to get off the remaining residue. I wouldn't use anything too harsh on the remaining adhesive so as not to damage the clearcoat.

Note: Since your truck is red and a 2006, I would be prepared for some light "ghosting" of the emblem. Red paint has a tendency to oxidize faster for some reason. If you've kept a good coat of wax on your truck, it should be fine and the paint underneath the emblems should match pretty good.

3m automotive mounting tape

basically heat up the badges with a hair blow dryer thingy, or if it's hot as balls out side that should be good enough.

after it's been heated take some fishing line (10 lb line should do it) and wrap it between both trigger fingers as if you're gonna strangle a doll. Roughly about a foot of line between your hands. And put it as close as you can to the door right behind the badge, do a saw like motion slowly and diligently from one back side of the badg to the other until badge comes off.

you'll need "goo be gone" or something to get the rest of the residue off, then paint badges (or sand n paint) use some double sided tape or whatever and put that bitch back on. Oh and mark off the sides of the badge with masking tape, so you'll know exactly where to place it once you're ready to put it back on

 

3M makes a great automotive double-sided tape. It's thin... you can find it at most auto parts stores.

How about fishing line? Tuck it behind the emblem and pull left and right and it should separate. But use a hairdryer first to soften the adhesive behind it. Then to remove the adhesive you can use WD40.

Ok, that makes 5 people telling him the same thing... I think he got the point. Haha

 

Little dabs of Shoo Goo works wonders. Just be sure to leave room for it to spread as you press it back on. I used it to put the rubber bumper strips back onto the chrome bumper of my Chevelle. Never had any problems with it coming off or gapping. Just make sure there's some kind of pressure on the emblem so that gravity doesn't pull it down.
