6spd manual trans fluid question

    Full OME lift with Dakars, 886s and LR UCA's, Firestone air bags w\ onboard compressor, 2 kicker CVT 10" subs , MB Quart 1000w amp ,Alpine media player
    hey i recently changed my front and rear diff and transfer case and tranny fluid to redline heavy shockproof gear oil and have had no problems. but after doing some reading im thinking to put the redline light weight shockproof in cause its apparently better for manual transmission synchros?, is the 6spd a synchromesh transmission or am i stupid and are all manual trannys synchromesh units?

    Most modern manual transmissions have synchros. Redline MT-90 is a popular choice for a manual transmission oil around here.

    LEER Shell with dome lights operated with 3 way switches, aux backup lights with relay and 3 position switch, modified wiring to compass/temp display and clock to include switch that disables dimming function (poor man's DRL solution), Scan Gauge 2
    Read the owner's manual and look for a GL-4 or GL-5 spec for the transmission. I have heard that oil rated at Gl-5 and not GL-4 will eat the brass rings in the syncros. Then look and see what rating the redline has that you've got in there. If the ratings don't match, swap in out.

    I switched out my factory fill trans oil for Amsoil's MTG 75w90 and it actually improved my shifts, especially from 1st to 2nd. Only put in 1.9 to 2 quarts of oil and use new metal gaskets on the plugs.

    X2. It does improve shifting. At least it did on mine. :cool:

    in my hanes manual it calls for
    $29 75w 90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)
    75w 90 gear oil gl4 or gl5 and the redline heavyshockproof gear oil meets and exceeds those requirements but the redline website shows it being not recommended for synchro manual transmissions, so its kinda confusing but im gonna put that mt-90 in asap

    Suspension and intake and bigger tires
    I don't think it is worth the risk on a new truck but for what it's worth I have been running heavy shockproof in my trans on my 1996 4runner for like 15 years and it makes shifting smooth as butter
