I'm leasing so I need to keep this a secret.
You know... It's already growing on me. I still don't regret purchasing the 2011... yet.

And to be honest, I would not really expect one in the future, but if Toyota did do one it would probably vary by region.

has the Tacoma had rebates? If so, that surprises me since we never had them when I was selling Toyotas. I havent looked at the buying incentives for a while though. What about special financing?

I got 0% on mine back in oct of '08. But I also got the truck for 29 something. Trying to buy an '11 past couple of weeks and they wouldn't budge off sticker price.

 sticker price?!?! Who still pays that?! Even dealers know that sticker price doesn't mean anything. Today the big thing is "invoice" which is still a sham if you don't know how it works. If you buy any car at sticker these days (aside from exotics or high demand/low supply) you're getting ripped off.

I'm going to buy my 2012 with the Costco Auto Program which isn't "super amazing" deal level, but it's a no haggle guaranteed "pretty good" deal. I think the way it works is you hit up Costco Auto online and they hook you up with the local participating stealership. At which time the fleet manager emails you and gets the vehicle you want to the lot. They then sit down with you and show you their invoice price (again, if you don't completely understand how it works it can still be a steal for them). The agreed upon contract with Costco is that the vehicle purchase price will be below invoice (from a couple hundred to a couple thousand). It's a no haggle kinda deal. So again, it's not the "super amazing" deal that I've seen a couple in here get (or family members) but it is a pretty decent deal for the average Joe :)

Bottom line, DO NOT PAY STICKER!!! (which you may already know anyways, thus explaining why you haven't pulled the trigger as of yet. If that's the case, just ignore all I just said.. typed??)

^ ^ That sounds just like the Overstock.com pricing (ZAG).

I used Overstock.com pricing and I got my truck for a steal (several thousand below MSRP and quite a bit below invoice).

I used to sell Toyotas. The Costco program sets a certain amount over invoice, not under. It varies too based on trim line in each model.
it may have changed, but it was usually around $1000 over invoice for tacos and 4runners. You also get any other factory incentives that may be available.

I bet the reason they aren't budging on msrp is the low inventory. Ive driven by several dealerships and there aren't many new tacos. Supply and demand.

Interesting convo on the sticker price and no haggling. here in Hawaii we have Servco who has the monopoly on all toyota dealerships in the state. They have a no haggling policy. They insist that the sticker price they have on the car is the lowest possible price possible so there's no reason to deal. In fact, you can't.

    Should we believe them? Buahahahahhaha

<--Looks at news about Toyota and Ford collaborating on hybrid truck development.

That's where the Tacoma is almost certainly headed. I don't think you'll be seeing larger V6 or V8 engines in Tacomas, you'll be getting Toyota's implementation of the Ecoboost-type technology in smaller truck engines integrated into some form of hybrid drive system.

Just absolutely not liking this new look. Wake me when the Baja version is available, otherwise I'll be holding off until a complete redesign and then I'll re-evaluate.

we shouldn't be surprised at a hybrid truck. Toyota announced a while back that its entire fleet will eventually be hybrids

Direct injection, turbocharged, small displacement and high output.

As far as gas engines go, it's the way of the future. Opposing it will soon make you look like the people who opposed overhead valves and fuel injection.
