Time behind the wheel matters--I agree on that. But it's all relative. And as a general rule most people are going to discount what you say because of your age. That's a fact. If you don't believe it then you're living in a fantasy. But please let me assure you that it changes as you get older, because you'll become more seasoned.;)

and that’s what I don’t understand, yeah there are a lot of jackass teenagers that act like they know what they are doing when they don’t, but there is that handful that actually know stuff. know what I mean?

It because of those jackasses. People seem to only look at the worst of it.

Hell I'm 19 and I hate most teenagers...

I built my Jeep and I do a good amount of rock crawling here in AZ (trails like Predator, Conda, Terminator for those who know the trails at Table Mesa). Never once have I flopped or gotten so much as a scrape on my rig, with the exception of the sliders, but that's what they're for.

Just a couple rotten eggs can spoil the bunch, sad to say it, but it's true.

I think you have it backwards. Most teenagers are jackasses. Some are not. So because only a small majority are not, we cannot change the mass stereo type. Sorry

To be old and wise you must first be young and stupid :p

 Sunscreen it works. Use it!

Of course. Yes. TW is a great place to learn from each other... I don't agree with S.B. casting insults towards BlueT. It's against the CoC and that's how people earn bans. If someone misreads a post, it can be corrected. No big deal.

Now for putting my post back on topic, I'd love to do Lions back if it were still open I'd run it. I'd definitely use my locker on the way up AND on the way back down.

It's not the same. A-Trac allows the truck to apply maximum braking to an individual wheel at open throttle. In a normal vehicle that uses intake manifold vacuum to assist the brakes, the vacuum won't be there at open throttle.

I was just trying to get us all discussing without gettign upset at each other.

Interesting idea, I hadn't thought about that.
All my steep encounters have been in mud and snow. In those situations, you sometimes need to give light gas to correct slipping. I'd imagine the locked rear could be more prone to getting squirrely, or does it even matter?

It does get squirmy but still its better then open diff, and as you said squirmy effect can be easily corrected with little power.. My pickup has factory LSD so its very strong limited slip, when going down the hill covered in Ice there is a point when both rear wheels will loose traction>
My front is open diff, and when rear looses traction, truck simply starts rolling down the hill with rear trying to follow. Good part with front being open diff is with one wheel rolling on the front there is better control of direction.

My LC is Dual Lockers. and can walk the same hills forward and backward , up and down with out any problems.
Because front and rear is locked you have to loose traction on all 4 wheels. Which sometime does happen especially on steeper hills however as soon as you apply some gas wheels catch up with the ground and you gain traction.

One thing I never understood why my lockright always acted like open diff when going down the hill maybe it was broken or something but never did hold it like LSD does or e-locker. I know Detroit locker does so it so there must be something about lockright that does not want to do this.

Now lastly trying to use brakes at any above conditions is suicidal . :p

I know what experience you are talking about and still I am 25 years ahead of you on this one and its unlikely you will catch up. ;)
