Well, I literally "pulled the trigger" and got the following:

    http://www.bushmaster.com/catalog_xm15_BCWVMF16M4ORC.asp

    Bushmaster AR 15 ORC .223 16"

Cabelas has them on sale for an insane price. Couldn't pass it up. It was this or upgrading my stereo in my 2011 TRD, but that ended up not being as fun.

Now, as some of you own this AR as well, where to begin on the upgrades? I want a scope, but don't need anything spectacular. In fact, I would like to spend between $100-150 on it.

What else should I upgrade? Maybe a bi-pod?

I prefer Eotech and Leupold for my AR's,but for under $100.00 try the Primary Arms microdot..Great little red dot for the money. For the best mounts money can buy check out Larue Tactical.

Geissele is coming out with a lower priced trigger if you don't want to drop the $170 for the SSA. Geissele is the new hotness in AR triggers.

    http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=190261

    I'm rockin the SSA.

    http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/?productNumber=247530

Edited to add - if I were you and I wanted to spend $100 on sights, I'd buy the Daniel Defense A1 rear sight and a front sight block to replace your lo-pro block and shoot the crap out of it with irons while you saved up for a decent electronic sight. Paying less than $100 for an electronic sight is almost always false economy.

    Rear sight:

Front sight block (many choices out there).

Thanks for these links. I think I will pickup the rear and front sights. Now, should I just go with a red dot small scope or a true rifle scope?

The Geissele is a copy of the Timney. One thing I like, and stand behind, when considering parts for things, is quality. I've been to Timneys' manufactuing facility, and can attest to a poor soul, whos job is to simply test EVERY triggers pull weight. If its off by 1/4#, its thrown in the "Fail" bin, and disassembled. 3 other people test to make sure the triggers are smooth. All of them are hand made, and quality checked at 6 different stages. The amazing thing to me was, only about 25% of their triggers make it past the final checks. They are VERY stringent on how their triggers perform. I watched them make mine, and the first one failed, and went bye bye. Why did it fial? Welp.....I wanted a 2.75# single stage pull. The first one was at 3.12#. I was fine with that, but they wouldnt let me take it that way. The final one was 2.9#, and tested until it repetedly broke at a crisp 2.75#. Taconut on here tried my trigger, and giggled like a school girl. out of all my shooting buddys (sans PackerfanXD, as he hasnt tried my trigger yet), has been hugely impressed by the Timney, and a few have gotten their own. Its hard to find the level of perfection, and customer service now days, that Timney exibits. And for them to allow me to watch, and tour, their facility, was a very welcome gesture. Im a firm beliver of "You get what you pay for". There is a reason they are held in high regard in the shooting world.

Not that these aren't great triggers, but I would not ever recommend one as a first upgrade. I don't think there is anything wrong with the stock trigger.
I would get a mastery of the iron sights before I decide what optic to go with. The first things you should get imo is a good padded sling and maybe a light. Just my $.02

SSA is not a copy of a Timney. A Timney is a drop in complete unit. The Wilson Combat trigger you might be thinking of.

The only thing I've noticed on my Timney is every now and again the screws that snug up to the lower work themselves out. Little loctite and it should be fine.

I have a chip mccormick matchgrade trigger on my dpms. Thats the best $100 you can spend in my opinion. Absolutley beautiful trigger pull

Holographic or red-dot sight. I like the Bushnell trophy... It has a shape similar to an ACOG, but uses a battery and has red/green illumination.

Ditch the plastic pistol grip for a Hogue, Ergogrip, or similar.

I also put a pneumatic buffer in mine. Gets rid of the springy twang noise in my ear/cheek (and feels smoother but that might be psychological).

Rubber pad on buttstock. Not needed for recoil, but softens the plastic edges and makes it more comfortable.

Speaking of, how is the recoil on this thing? I have never fired a .223, but want my nephew (8 yrs old) to be able to shoot this without hurting him.
