Okay, so after my first episode of tinting my tail lights, they did come out too dark. I knew it, but I really likeed the way they looked.

That being said, I didn't want to risk the safety of my family or anyone else riding behind me, so I ended up sanding down the tint from the area in front of the brake light bulb and the turn signal bulb so I could use the truck safely until I had a chance to fix the lenses.

So today I finally ended up having time to fix them. Granted the sides are still dark BUT any are that shows light is now way brighter. You can still see it is tinted, but now it is a much lighter tint and the light shines through alot more now.

I can appreciate EVERYONES comments regarding the stance on wether or not the care for or even agree with having the tail lights tinted. I understand both sides to it legal and safety wise. While apperantley almost everyone here does not like them, I actually do!

I had my wife drive my truck and I followed behind just to see how the tinted tails performed on the road and they were quite clear, from both up close and a far distance. We were on the road at about 1 pm and the sun was at it's brightest and still you could see them light up quite easily. When you press on my brakes it is obvious...

So here are a couple of pics of the finished product. I put a before and an after with the brake light engaged so you could see the difference.

In the words of one of my favorite singers Toby Keith....Hate me if you want to, love me if you can...

I have to find some time to take my light meter out and mesure tint vs stock. Found some LED's i might put in for brake and turn signal. Do you still have amber turns. I lightly painted some clear bulbs red so im still legal (red turn signals are legal). Looks good, Nice job

Lol, probably still sue-able non-the-less, but I agree it should be much safer!

The turns come out brighter than the brake and they are still amber. I'll try to get pics up of that soon. Thanks!

    You know! Thanks!

I was concerned like you. I ended up only doing two-ish coats. I want just a little accent to go with my black and red theme. They were a little too dark for my taste at first but they fade quickly and right now after a year, they're perfect. I think you will find the same thing. Looks good!
