    So what's the deal?

Canada suddenly seems as divided (though not as divisive) as the US

    It's not a Canada issue , it's a provincial issue in BC

I agree. I never got that. I pay tax, a small fortune on a new truck, sell it, then they collect again, and again, over and over again. Makes no sense.
There's no way the money gets to it's intended purpose. Think of all the taxation, globally for that matter, and nothing ever improves....

your brainwashed with scare tactics bud, u and i will never notice a financial difference in going back to the old system except u will pay less sales tax. the hst benefiting business and these savings being passed on to the consumers is a lie. the average hard working person sees no benefits from the hst.

We were going to go to 10% HST , and now we will remain at 12% and pay an extra 3 billion , how is that a better solution .

Explain so I can break the brainwashing

That's assuming that they're being honest in lowering it to 10%. Once Christy Clark gets in, she'll no doubt have some shitty excuse why it has to stay at 12%. She's no different than the rest of them.

One market that would benefit from going back to the old system is the real estate market. Remember that there were many items exempt from sales tax. What rubbed a lot of people the wrong way was that with the HST, pretty much EVERYTHING was taxable. Right now even toilet paper is taxed at the full 12% HST. Toilet paper... we can't even wipe our asses without being gouged.

They'll make that $3 Billion back on increased real estate sales alone, in the 1st year.

They had entered into an agreement that would legally bind them to a reduction to 10% if the HST was retained .

The 3 billion is not going to magically appear without cutting services , the next provincial budget will prove that .

We're all friends here , and this thread is headed into the realm of political topics , which is against the site COC .

I think it's best that I just go ahead and lock this up .
