Rear leaf TSB. Should I or should I not get it?

When I got the leaf spring TSB done on my truck I also had a set of 5100 shocks installed. The combination of the two changes made a very noticable improvement in the way the truck rode and handled. I'd do it in a hearbeat.

 

I had the TSB done the other day & am very happy w/ it. Does look a lil ass-high since the rest is stock, but no negatives in ride from me. Hopefully it'll settle a lil after i reinstall my cap.

 

I would definitely get it done with that, but I want to keep the smooth ride!

I had my rear springs replaced on the TSB. I did not notice any ride change when empty. It helped a lot with a load. The picture is a 1,084 lb load of dry wall.

 

Does anyone have before and after pics? Did you do anything to the front end to even it out? Would like a little bit more height without actually doing a lift to get a little more meat underneath when the stock tires wear out.

 

service guy at the dealership said he did his truck and turned around and swapped em out again.

Airbags if you're worried about the payload. The leaves aren't bad. They're just supposed to be comfortable.

 

I just don't think its fair that the older trucks are getting the free leaf springs and the newer 2010-2011 trucks are being refused!
I am going to contact Toyota and log a formal complaint!
Then I will contact the Attorney General of Pennsylvania, then maybe I can contact my Attorney and maybe get some of that $5K retainner I gave him and make him work for it! When I want something I don't ask, I make a THREAT!
yea, it does upset me you guys that are getting the free leaf springs don't even haul or tow anything then I really haul heavy loads and I am refused?

 

Do it, I was skeptical at first, but I like it and I'm glad I got it done.

 

definately get it done. 100 times better than stock.

 

Would Toyota just give me the parts and I can install the springs myself?
I could drive in to the dealer and show them it was done, I could agree it would be done in 3 days or less, they can have the old parts.
I just don't trust any mechanic working on my truck, thats my problem!
I had some really bad things happen to past vehicles in the past from the mechanic screwing up, from smashing my front hubs out of round with a hammer on my older truck, to installing a new battery that was too tall and denting my hood, to wheels falling off cause they diidn't tighten the lug nuts, I even had a mechanic try to fill the motor oil thru the dip stick tube and didn't clean up the mess of oil he dumped on my engine.
So maybe someone can understand why I am on edge about having it done!

I have yet to lift the front, but imo it needs a good inch or 2 to even it out.

 

Who said the 2010 models are being refused? I had mine done almost a year ago--no hassles, no questions.

 

I'm looking at buying a new 2011 and was wondering if the TSBs are already taken care of on new models or if they still need to be done?

 

Assuming when you say " TSB's " , you are reffering to only the rear leaf TSB

Canadian trucks , yes

American trucks , no

 

wasn't there a recent TSB for the transmission, or has that been sorted out and fixed on new models?

 

Yes , the tranny TSB software is updated for the 2010-2011 years .
