I will be demo'ing a few tacomas today and was wondering if there are any questions I should ask or comments from him to watch out for? I am looking for a DC LB and there aren't many of those left on the lots and more 2011 cannot be ordered from the factory. think I can use the 2012 as leverage for them to throw in some extras, or do tacomas basically sell themselves, which leaves me with little leverage power?

If you're looking for a specific truck with specific options and there aren't many trucks that match your description, I would say that limits your leverage because the reason there aren't many left is they've all sold. You can try to use the 2012 model as leverage but as far as I know they haven't been released so dealers aren't making room for them yet. That line really works when they have a lot full of 2012's and only a few 2011's left.

I just think the DC LB arent as popular, which is why they don't have as many on the lot. I see a ton of SB around here, but LB are rare.

DCLB's are awkward imho, but if that's what you have to have then a dealer is gonna know that they have the upper hand in that situation. Never let a dealer know you have to have their vehicle. As far as the truck itself, I would check the leaf pack in the rear, if you can get them to do the rear leaf tsb before you even get it (or maybe they come from the factory that way now??) that would be best. As always, post pics and good luck!

You could be right, it seems to vary based on location. We have quite a few up here. I tried for one but they would have had to order it, they had none on the lot. I wouldn't tell them your breaking points on a truck like which features it HAS to have, they'll use it as leverage against you. Don't be too committal, be prepared to walk away if the deal isn't right. Standing up and walking out is an effective tactic. They know once you leave, it significantly reduces their chances of selling you a vehicle.

tell them you are going to look at a half dozen or so trucks that are the same exact options just different colors and that you are not that particular

cant get a dclb off road. at least not when I was buying
Edit: 32k seems a little steep too. Try truecar.com I believe you can see what dealers are selling what you are looking for in your region.

no way you bought a 2011 double cab 4x4 sport package, tow package for 27. that would mean the truck was roughly 25,500 before taxes and fees.

yes in fact i did !! i also got running boards, remote start and weathertech mats with it. its the end of the month and they obviously wanted to make a sale...i think it was a great deal and i love the beast so far too. only thing i find wrong with it is the clip that holds the passenger side visor is loose. warranty will fix that stuff

See if they will swap out upgraded tires. The stock tires are junk.

I just picked up my new dclb trd sport etc for $30,867 out the door with tax tags etc. LB's are more rare and hold their value the best out of the tacomas. I told them what color I was looking for and they got it within 2 weeks. My friend is the GM at a local Toyota dealer so he hooked it. Think I paid $750 below invoice or something?

That's kind of strange...a guy I work with bought an '09 Access cab Off road and when he took it in for the "gas pedal" mod/chop/grind they threw his drivers side floor-mat in the trash...he had to go back and ask WTF.

32k is high, however. What was the sticker price?!!! You should easily be able to drive away under 30k
