what's the best to buy for improving gas mileage???

Question is what's the best to buy for improving gas mileage??? We all know that when you get your first Tacoma and its completely STOCK you get okay gas mileage.. I have the TRD Sport double cab long bed and i was getting 18 to 19 in town and 20 to 22 on the freeway at 75 MPH that was me driving it nice now.. but for me i cannot keep anything stock so i put a 3" lift with 32" BFG all terrain tires and now I'm getting 15 to 16 in the city and 17 to 19 on the freeway. Not what i want to see but i know you have to compermise to make things look good. So what dose one buy such as the cold air intake or exhaust or a programer. Which one of these is the best for your buck?

 

I'm not to sure but I just put on a Flowmaster cat-back exhaust system and I should be getting my TRD CAI next week. I am going to see how my MPG turns out.

try running amsoil 0w 30 with a air filter(i have a green) and prem.gas.i can/did get 24mpg not lifted at that time but that is awsome.

 

The experience I've had..... either exhaust alone or intake alone.
As soon as you put an exhaust AND intake - it'll suck up the gas.
These new gen trucks are different the way they respond to mods like that.

My old 96 3.4L- I had K&N w/ deckplate mod, tonneau cover, stock exhaust, 2" lift w/ stock tires and lots of additional weight (front/rear bumpers, skid plating, rock sliders) ran synthetics everywhere - and it was getting 19-20mpg city driving. I miss that truck....

Did you adjust your mpg calculation for the different sized tires? Your odometer isn't reading the same with a larger tire, so you're going farther than you actually indicate. It'll make a small difference. Enter your before and after tire size to see the difference in the TW Tire calculator:

Also, increasing airflow means you can use more gas. Improves power, but not mileage.
