    Agreed.

    I was trying to draw a more clear comparison between the .270 and the .308 based on a common lineage in the 30.06, but I would certainly defer to someone with loading experience when it comes to the ballistics and flexibility of a given cartridge.

    I hope I didn't come across as a dick, all of what you said I agree with. Just throwing out another piece of data. My favorite is .308, most folks just do not need any more. As far as flexibility goes, again the 30-06 pretty much takes the cake. As a hand loader, you can choose from 40 grain (sabots) to 250 grain projectiles, you can load from mice to moose, and even more.

    You're good by me, no offense taken.

    I don't actually reload and am very new to rifle shooting. Last year I read the Speer Reloading Manual cover to cover just to see if it interested me. Unfortunately, time and money have kept me from taking up the hobby. So in lieu of actually reloading, I like to troll for opportunities for my to give my unsolicited $.02. I certainly won't begrudge someone the same hobby :)
