The light comes on, you pull in and put 18.7 gallons in, and you think your Tacoma only holds 19 gallons? Everyone else's holds just over 21 gallons, according to Toyota.

Don't you think the light is a warning, to give you time to find a gas station? In fact, it is about a 4 gallons 'to go' warning.

How about your fuel gauge? The light comes on ABOVE the E line... and guess what? Even on E (empty), you still have about 3 gallons in reserve. Your gauge needle can actually drop BELOW the E line!

Harsh? Not trying to be harsh... Just a wake up when he has read in this thread and been told a dozen times it is an 80 liter/ 21.1 gallon tank, but still thinks that he has a 19 gallon tank because he once put 18.7 gallons into it? Huh?

If I get gas... say after driving 155 miles, and can only add 9.7 gallons before it spills out the top... does that mean I only have a 10 gallon tank?

 

Not harsh... common-since sometimes requires a big push to get into the brain.

It's possible. Toyota fabricated a different fuel tank than they've used on every Tacoma for the past 6 model years, shaved off 2.1 gallons, and installed it just on this one particular truck. For the lulz.

 

^ My 02 Tacoma only had 3 bolts holding down my passenger Seat. The dealership told me sometimes that happens. So I think its entirely feasible that they put a smaller tank in a truck or 2.

Where would this variant fuel tank come from? They shipped them Yaris tanks and they just happen to bolt right up?

 

I was also joking. Just stating that toyota is sometimes off. lol, so it may be that anything is possible to them. The Yaris thing could be possible.

 

Of course my tank size statements are for Second Gen. Tacomas (2005+).

It has an 11 gallon tank.
