So, i noticed a grinding in my transmission a little while back, and when i went to college, my parents kept the truck (till second semester) and they have it in the shop now......
i just got a call today with all that is wrong with it

it had to be torn down, 3rd and 4th gears bad, bad synchro, bad clutch, a lot of seals have to be replaced, a lot of bearings have to be replaced.......

    total, about 3200

before anyone says anything on the reason why it happened, i already know

i have to adjust how i drive my truck (its a manual) so hopefully it wont happen again

anyways, anyone else ever had transmission problems because of how they drive?

Depends on how you drive... do you actually use the clutch?

Apparently if the synchros are FUBAR.

Exceed the limits of the design and premature failure is eminent.

i ride clutch only when i am backing up, particularly with trailers (not too often)

i have a habit of slamming it into gear with the clutch 3/4 of the way down, thought as little as half, didnt realize i was doing it until it was pointed out to me

oh, i have a 6 speed if that helps

Hmmm, not sure if the short throw shifter kit would help you out or not.

I've thought about getting one, how much does it affect driving? and would it be worth getting?

also, where could I have one installed, as I don't trust myself for it
