Yeah, but I take public transportation 3-4 days a week, but still manage to average over 17k a year with all my trips

DD but I like to play around on fire roads and fields. Great for field work. Got scratches all down the sides. Almost 3 years old and over 60,000 mi. She does it all.

I use 30 mpg car for 70 mile round trip 4 days a week unless it snows. I would use the Taco as a daily driver if gas didn't cost so much. Taco gets used for all other trips except cutting and hauling firewood. I use the '95 2wd PreTaco for firewood trips. I took the wife on her first mountain trail run last weekend. She had a blast and now thinks we should get a 3" lift like the other guy that went with us. I did the trail three weeks ago with 8 TW Tacos but it was a lot wilder this time due to recent rains. While important to know your abilities I think it is more important to know your Taco’s abilities. Your abilities will grow over time your Taco’s will only grow with mods. These are pretty capable vehicles even stock, and become even more so with a 3” lift and larger tires. Twice my wife got out to “spot” me and I ignored her and drove where I needed to drive. And several times she said “you aren’t going over that rock” and I said “yes we are right over it” and we did. I knew what it was capable of and she didn’t. I would recommend a mud flap trim. I took 4” off the front and 1” off the back. They still scrape from time to time but not like they used to.

Mines a DD also. Put over 7,000 miles on her in 1 year driving around on an island...but it is a very comfortable truck to have as a DD...plenty of power and my gas mileage isn't too bad, considering the mild mods I have done to it.

So did you buy an old jeep or how did you go about it? Obviously I am not going to tear up a new one or be able to afford one for that matter.

DD all the way. Traded our '06 Speedway Blue AC 4x4 for an '08 Super White AC Pre. White is so much more forgiving with touch-up and dirt. Plus between the two, there is about 1000% less drivline lash in the Pre, much nicer as a DD. (for me anyway)
