hi-lift jack differences

    getting there....
    looking at hi-lifts on ebay..............they have the cast/steel, all cast and extreme.

    what makes the all cast better than the cast/steel one(if anything)? the extreme is way overkill for me i do believe!:D

    Cast is heavier built. The steel/fabricated "Head" does not hold up well to abuse "work".

    Toytec ultimate lift kit, light racing UCAs, ARB bumper and full skid plates underneath. Looking into redoing the suspension and maybe repainting the ol' Taco.
    cast/steel has some stamped steel pieces, the all cast is just that. They should both have similar capacities but the all cast is slightly more durable.

    I just know from using hilift jacks since I could run a tractor. I don't know particular specs. I have never broken a cast hilift. I have trashed the fabricated/steel one. They all need oil or wd-40 slobbered on them to work properly and they never work right when you bend one. That is a bad day.

    When you get it, buy some clevises that fit in the holes. It is alot easier to attach a chain or strap when you need it.

    yeah, i got 4 or 5 small clevises in my tool box right now, so they will work well with the hi-lift.

    well.....you need either sliders or a plate bumper(s) before you can use the hi-lift.............well, you can use the hitch, but that may not be too safe.

    what ever you jack up must be stable. If it moves you are dead or screwed.

    uses of a hi lift jack:
    Winch
    jack -duh
    fence stretcher
    calf puller - very desperate situation
    Large clamp - hold boards together
    load a sea container - requires two
    hold a hay rake folded together for transport.
    pull out large posts

    probably the cheaper solution......buy and weld or bolt on a set of rock sliders. they are cheaper than a plate bumper anyway.
