If you frequently hold passengers in a fetal position in the back seats, they might appreciate openable windows. I think it's extra weight and cost for something I would never use. The Taco outperforms other midsize trucks because it's light (300 lb lighter than a Frontier).

Sounds great if every one is ok with an extra 500 to 1000 dollars tacked on the sticker price.

If they opened at all, I could see them opening like "wing vent" windows. Hinged at the front, with a latch that lets them pop open an inch or two in the rear.

Its too close to the front windows. If it was back further I could see.

Next thing you know someone will be asking for 2nd-row air conditioning vents.

I could use heated mirrors and a rear glass defroster (for the non-sliding panes) though.

Could be that the cab has a slight curve so the window wouldnt be able to roll down straight IDK, i know the older F150s(90`s style) had there back windows rollled down as a option, they called it big foot window and they were cool, just you get all the exhaust smell coming into the cab but a fast way to get your cab cooled after being parked in the sun all day

Its a decent idea, but you have to be careful with all these add ons. Everybody wants some thing more on the tacoma. But before you know it the cost goes through the roof. to where there it is no longer an afforable truck. I prefer the minimalist approach toyota has taken. It is still cheap, but the quality is still very high.

I don't think ventilation is an issue when there's a sliding rear window.

I agree. I would not mind that option as well and would use it.

    None yet! It's new!
Perhaps Toyota took a step backwards. Those windows opened on my '96 access cab. Like a vent window. Hinge on the front, with one of those toggle-link locks on the rear. Worked fine, but I rarely used them.

for a long, hot drive when ur not using air conditioning, i think it would be nice. agreed, somewhat pointless, but i think it would look awesome if they rolled down. i hear the 2012 AC is gonna have a sunroof too..rumor has it =P (im kidding)

Yep, my '99 had venting hinged back windows. I was surprised that my '11 didn't do the same thing. I didn't use them often, but I did use them. And I have found myself wanting to use them on my '11 too.

It's just cost-cutting, in the same vein as the missing keyhole in the passenger door handle or having only one reverse light bulb in the Scion tC. $1 per Taco x 35000 Access Cab Tacos per year...

now an electric complete slide down rear window would be sick! Solid when ya want it but when you need to access the bed roll that puppy down and reach for the cooler!

I don't care about rolling down but the typical access cab pop out would have been nice. I put two kids back there and it can get a bit stuffy. A pop out window would allow just enough airflow to stop that.
