all pro 3 inch leaf pack install help?

i have a new 3 inch leaf pack sitting in my driveway, and have no idea what to do next? if i take the stock leaf pack out, will the new one just slip right in? that is the main concern

help or pictures?

With some choice 4 letter words, yes. The new leaf pack should fit in place of the old one. Do you have all the required hardware? U-bolts, axle shims, centering pin extensions (if using shims), extended brake lines, etc.

Make sure you support the axle when it's just hanging so you don't over extend the brake lines. Also, bolt the front of the leaf pack in place first, it's easier to move the shackle on the rear to meet the leaf pack.

OK the front shocks are a bitch to put in, but if i take the shocks off the rear when changing the leaf pack will it all just slide into place? cause i fought my front shocks for like 3 hours

 

Actually that 3-leaf pack does not replace the existing leaf set up. What you do is take out the bottom leaf (the fattest one) and slide in the new 3-leaf pack on the bottom. Make sure you line everything up flush before re-attaching the unbolts and bump stop.

 

I don't see that Allpro offers a 3 leaf pack. Maybe you have the Icon 3-leaf pack? Double check and get back to us. Or you can call the shop where you bought the leafs and ask them.

 

He said he has the Allpro 3" leaf pack, not a 3 leaf pack.

Having someone to help you maneuver the leaf packs over the axle and into place makes things much easier.

 

Take the rear shocks off or at least disconnect them at the axle. They're not hard to get back into place (nothing like the fronts).

Did this recently. Couple things that I wish we would have done during mine.

If you're doing break lines as well, do those first, the added length will help with dropping the axle.

Do one side at a time....we decided we'd get both sides undone and ended up dropping the axle....it wasn't fun to get back up.

Take off the whole shackle with the old leaf pack, put it on outside of the truck, then bolt it back up. It makes it a bit easier to deal with, but make sure you put it on the right way. If it's backwards it will ALMOST fit, but you'll spend 10-15 minutes thinking about how to make it work before you realize it's on backwards.

Bolt the front of the pack in first.

Other than that, I'd say it's really not that bad of a job. Two sets of hands helps ALOT. The AP leaf pack is pretty heavy.

 

I think he meant , make sure you put the shackle on the right end of the leaf pack .

 

Upside down? Not sure how to describe it. One of the directions it faces causes it to push against a flat metal portion of the shackle. Figured out that when e flipped it over it fixed the issue.

Upside down, or facing the wrong way maybe?

Idk. Just pay attention to how you take ir off then put it back on the same way

 

well thanks for the help guys, i did it this morning in like two hours before the sun came out. it was pretty easy except for when i smashed my thumb trying to losen the front driver side bolt on the leafs. but im definatly happy with it, now im just waiting on my spindles!

The axel fell on my leg doing this last week hurt like a mother f$&$%&'

 

Do you have any photos of the full truck with the expo pack on the back and whatever you currently have on the front? I'm asking because I too am waiting on spindles and am contemplating putting on my front bilsteins at .85 and then the rear bilsteins and expo pack, but if it's going to look retardly high in the rear without spindles, I'm going to wait till I have it all.

Dang, 2 overloads, that's pretty weird. That finger picture hurt just looking at it. OUCH!
