Man, I have some real work cut out for me before Saturday

-Install new CB (old one went out, I got a cobra 9). Trying to copy MrGrimm. I need to go buy a scoshe dash kit cuz the metra's pocket is smaller. Probably need an add a fuse, too.
    -swap to the MT tires
-nice-to-do's: seat covers just came in, but I'll probably wait until I can get the carpet cleaner to wash the seats, not to mention I doubt there's time before saturday... might have to do Sunday. I also have a speaker wire that keeps going out on the passenger side. I ran a new wire and it went out again!!

    busy busy!

It's on for Saturday, Bobert did you have a time/place you wanted to meet up or were you and your bud doing a private party? If nothing else, I'll show up at the McDonalds off the Glencoe road exit of HWY 26 around 8:30 and roll out at 9am. I'm hoping I can check out Roger's Road with somebody

I'm 100% doing what I said (Glencoe at 8:30, headed out from there at 9).
From Glencoe McD's it's about 30min into the OHV park.
We will air down, discuss route, basic safety and communication, and then head out to the trails.
Trails are clearly marked with ratings for difficulty. To determine what you are comfortable with, we can start on a trail called Hood Raiser, which has an easy part and a moderate part. The trail is short and the changeover occurs as you cross a main road, so you can decide quickly if you want to say, "no thanks", "more of this", or "I was expecting more".

One thing I will ask is that you be patient with me as I work the map - it gets really confusing where you are at sometimes!

Well, didn't get anything done Thursday, but I'm cracking today.

    Tires, done!
    CB, Researched! On to install!

works for me. I haven't heard anything from anyone but you in regards to solid yes or no, so I'll do the McD's thing for posterity and get to Banks at almost the same time as you.

I don't have plans to be anywhere soon, and I live less than an hour away from TSF. The trick is trying to find where we'll be!

    Ughh...

Just finished with CB. It sticks out a mile from the dash, but it's functional. I probably have to re-tune, but at least I have ears.

So I'm back from TSF. Just Rob, his lady friend, and me... Rob didn't tell me it was date night on the dusty trail! We got split up headed to FB 5... maybe it was intentional? :proposetoast::rofl:

Anyway, I did the lower part of FB5, Archer's (except Rocky Uphill, Can Opener, Waterfall, and that v canyon), and Roger's Road.

What the hell, Tim? You told me Roger's was the hotness. I don't know how it got a medium rating, other than the road was adopted by a Land Rover club and the difficulty is based on how many Rovers break before they get to the end? I did the whole thing in 2WD with a stock Geo Tracker following behind, except for one section where I decided to ride over a downed log.
There's one annoying section where it says, "open to all vehicles", which is some gravel road to a camp spot before continuing as a quad trail. I missed that second sign and had to turn around. The turn around was the toughest part of my whole day, I lost a mudflap and pinched the exhaust going over all the blasted stumps so I could get out.

Tim, you are demoted to private, first butthole :D (j/k Tim)

Didn't take many pics, I left that to Rob. Lots of trailered rigs and TONS of bikes. I didn't see any convoys or regular folks  it IS a 3-day weekend, right??

    Here' the Jeep Rob wants

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Slez3KngoYc

My small contribution. All from the same spot, lol

and here's the Taco I wish I could build. I didn't see what size tires those are, but he made me look really short with my puny 285s.
The only thing I'd change is that I'd ditch the bed. He's gotta rub like mad, look at the rear wheel wells.

Oh, and Rob: I caught up with that stock Jeep again after you left. I don't mind slow, and know I'm pretty geezer-like (I must have diabeetus? Time to eat oatmeal), but this was beyond. I was having a hard time keeping myself slow enough in 4LO- 1st to stay behind him. He pulled over and I felt pretty ridiculous speeding past in 4LO-2nd

Yep, didn't get that far. It was 1am and time to call it quits for the night.

The problem I had is that the Scoshe kit comes in two parts, the faceplate you see and a second part that is the leg supports. The legs mount via a plate that butts up against the rear of the cubby and secures with two screws. you basically have to cut the entire plate off to get the CB in, so I didn't know if MrGrimm had suggestions before I went too far. He said he felt the legs weren't necessary, but I'm going to take a second look during day light hours... after I recover from my 4 hours of sleep :p

I've been in there many times on a few different stereos. You need to put the CB on the top din and put the radio on the bottom If you can. If you cut the bottom support legs it will rattle like crazy and piss you off on the freeway.
