how much should we bet it comes with 3 leaf springs packs...LOL

    seriously i see 0 mechanical upgrades;

interior besides power lumbar wtf? specially since rest is manual adjusting still...and steering wheel which yes feels better and beefier from 4runner.

entune? let me guess same old shitty microproccessing in the head unit as previous models and no volume...
same paper dime sized magnet speakers with 0 sound deadening in the doors?

front facelift, yes i like the look it flows

18's are nice but chrome????? hell no

same rugged fails, at least could have updated the tires to the rugged terrains as Michelin improved them specially in the wet...

same tx-pro and tx easy moneymakers...

someone with a 2nd gen imo will have to be offered an out of this world deal on one to even consider "upgrading" because really there's no upgrade, just a sideway step with different front look...

What if you want to charge your phone using the USB port...would you have to constantly open and close the glove box?

Has anyone ever purchased from a dealer and picked up at the factory? My wife disagrees with the $810 destination charge and thinks it'll be better spent on one way tickets to the Toyota plant and breaking in the motor on the way back home. I think it's an awesome idea... but I'm looking to see if anyone had any experience with this and if it's a good idea at all.

My truck is supposed to begin it's build process on the week of Sept. 19th. does anyone know how long it takes these things to get built out? And are all the Tacos built in Texas? 'cause that'd be a fun ride back. If it's built in Mexico, that's not happening...

That's wasted mileage unless you were already planning to drive to San Antonio or Tijuana, Mexico. I don't recommend the latter. Look at it this way, the vehicle becomes more depreciated and "used up" with each mile you drive. With gas and the depreciation factored in, the real cost is far higher than $810.

Most of the Double Cab Prerunners are built in Tijuana. Everything else in San Antonio.

I hate to ask Bri for anything more--after all he did post the brochure--but any chance you could post the pages with the specs and options?

more than half those awards are value awards...value compared to what?
first look at how much competition Tacoma has, now even less w/out the Ranger development. what's left Frontier?

no wonder Toyota is in no rush to change things, because it sells, and most buyers have no clue about the issues with current gen. average joe buyer is more concern with resale value than actual quality.
if it wasn't selling i'd bet you they'd be changing it completely upgrading everything to stand out and sell once again, but right now they're just milking the cow...

don't get me wrong, i do like the Tacoma, i have one but still think it's overpriced for what it is specially considering some major cheapening out on Toyota's part and flaws on it.

at $30+k there's no excuse for weak windshield glass, thin paint, no sound deadening, weak tailgates, 3leaf spring pack, horrible programming in D for auto tranny made to squeeze every single last mpg for EPA testing, no heated mirrors, no brakes feedback, cheap hard plastic mudflaps, no lock on gas door, "jumpy" A/C etc.
if it had more competition i bet they'd up their quality on many of these issues...but they don't, so guess what: ipod, bluetooth is more of a priority....

Wow, Toyota's marketing department didn't quite do all their homework:
Toyota Tacoma has been named a Best Overall Value of the Year 23 of the last 24 years [3]

Last time I checked 1995 was only 16 years ago

I should probably knock on wood, but I have not had an issue with any of the things you mentioned... Not trying to argue, but they are selling pretty good, so I am not surprised they didn't change much.

Well, we actually did want to take the trip. We're road trip kinda people. Plus, it'd be cool to know we were the ones to put the first mile on the truck.

Sorry to be a buzz kill, but I don't think they would allow it, to be honest with you.

And usually the first mile or two are driven on their test track by employees. That's the way it used to be, anyway.
