I've done that with crappy brand new rental cars, but not my own.

Hey OZ-T are you still able to build a 2012 on the Toyota website? If so can you PM me your postal code/city?

As you requested:). Unfortunately there is very little change from the 2011 specs.

My 2011 had 5 miles on it when I bought it.

I'd much rather a certified Toyota tech or plant-worker drive it for the first few miles just to be sure it doesn't explode or fall apart. :p

I think it'd be cool just to say you were able to pick it up at the plant it was built in...but I imagine that would very hard to coordinate.

Let us know if you end up doing it and be sure to take some pics of the plant, etc...

Like they do with Corvettes! :D If I was to ever buy a new Corvette (which I won't!) I'd have to opt for the factory pick up option (I think it's like a $500 option). You go to Bowling Green, KY where the Corvette factory is and have a tour and pick up your brand-spanking new Vette right from the factory... now that would be a great damn memory and worth the extra 5 Benjamins to make that memory! :)

Edit: BTW... this thread has gotten insanely big!!!

Yeah one of our sales reps did that with his Vette. He said it was the best money he'd ever spent. He got to follow it down the line from where it started assembly (we were one of the plant's tooling providers) which I doubt normally comes with the package as well!

Interesting. They show A-TRAC standard for all models. Think that's true?

I was able to verify with a sales person the price has not changed. He switched his computer to Region 11 where the first ones are being shipped punched in the same features as the 2011 and MSRP did not change. Unfortunately there is only one 2011 in the entire region the color and package I want so I am going to be stuck waiting 6-8 weeks for the 2012 to hit my nor-cal region. New to looking at the trucks, but hopefully there will be a few things slightly better then the 2011?

I notice on the spec sheet for the 2012 Tacoma the mpg rating for the V6 4x4 is now 16/21. For the 2011 its 16/20, how did they get an extra mpg out of the truck if nothing mechanical changed? Better aerodynamic with the new front end?

I just bought a new 11 last night. I was waiting for solid pics and info on the 12s and I may grow to like the looks of the 12...but I decided to grab the last of the 11s. There are about 20 at each T dealership here, so 60 or so to choose from. Got a great deal (I think) because they want to make room for the 12s.

Which area do you live in, they punched in what I was looking for and there were 3 in the entire area and two were already sold before they hit the ground. Didn't think the dealer with one was going to bargain much. In my area if you use Consumer Reports to submit your vehicle dealers will respond back at $100 over invoice. The dealer I spoke with last night who knew he was not going to be selling me a vehicle and was just being nice helping out said the best you could expect even of the dealers looking to get trucks off their lot was $500 under invoice. So being there is only one and best case is $500 under my price difference is at most $600 for getting a 2012 vs a 2011. I figured a few things might be better, and 1 year newer when I go to resell it should offset that completely.

Besides the looks which people are 50/50 whether or not they like it more on the outside, most people seem to like the new interior changes. Were there any new items that anyone can point to the 2012 that will be better?

At highway speed the new dog of a front end scares the air out of the way lowering resistance for 1 MPG better.

    I'm in Little Rock AR. 3 dealerships in town.....More 4X4s than 2s.

I bought mine at Landers, the biggest. The other ones are NorthPoint and Caldwell in Conway about 15 miles north of LR.

I like the interior better, but I'm still not liking the front of the truck.

I am thinking about getting the 6 speed manual but see it gets worse gas mpg. Any one here have a 6 speed? What kind of gas mileage do you get in real wold driving.

I just got my copy. The dealer said they just came in...I was there 2 days ago and they didn't mention it. I do like the Nautical blue in the pictures, but in person I think it might be a little dark...still weighing blue or grey.
