has anyone bought a new battery from costco for a second gen 4.0 L?
Its says group 8 from the battery selector for the kirkland brand but it seems that doesnt match the amp rating from the oem battery...
its also impossible to install properly because its taller... anyone can confirm the group 8 is the corrent one?

Tow package battery is a group 27F. Note the CCA of the stocker compared to the Costco brand - stock w/ tow package is somewhere around 800+.

If I'm not mistaken, it gets sorta cold in Canada and you shouldn't skimp in the battery dept.

I'm sure they do - if you're a smart shopper and don't buy whatever the Costco-Kirkland-battery-selector spits out at you.

I doubt there's more than a few companies making car batteries anyway, regardless of what label is stuck on the side.

So are you saying don't buy Costco batteries, or get a different size?

I have never seen a 27F battery at Costco, or even Autozone and Kragen. Sears have them but they want like $120.

I bought an AC Delco 27F for $80 from a parts distributor.

According to this website, Johnson Controls-Saft Advanced Power Solutions makes the Kirkland batteries. It's the same company that makes and markets the Optima brand.

Not to steer you away from wherever it is you decide to buy a battery, but just get one at your dealer if it's not too much of a hassle. Their prices are usually pretty competitive (at least in the southeast U.S.) and you know you'll have the right battery for your ride.

I am guessing not many people are throwing batteries in their grocery cart next to the Toilet Paper. Check Autozone. They have great warranties and good prices.

i would never buy one at the dealer personally. well, if i lived in the boonies and it was my only choice i would. way to expensive - i can get better and cheaper elsewhere, including online.

OMG that is funny. Johnson controls was making batteries for Kirland last time I read Consumer Reports on the issue and were rated the highest. I'd also never buy a battery at Autozone unless that was my only choice. Might as well be Walmart. No offense, but Costco carries amazing HDTV's as well, but should I pass on them because they sell TP as well??
